Does anyone who replaced the pump had to remove the intake manifold?
There is a stud bolt at the top of the pump that also holds a metal water pipe in place.
This pipe goes to the back of the engine bellow the manifold and I cannot pull it to clear the stud. There is simply not enough clearance at the back of the engine to pull the pipe to the front.
Its about 2mm short.

All I know is that when my 3200 was in for cam belt at Meridien, they remove the water pump and showed it to me so it should come off easy with no need to remove the manifolds.

"It is showing signs of wear and we do have one on the shelf at £400" I passed.

I saw a picture you took from your car with the manifold off in another thread regarding a starter motor replacement.
I noticed that this pipe in your car has the ring that goes into the water pump stud slighlty angled outwards while in my car its flat.

Im wondering if this was a revised designed by maserati or someone has bent your pipe to the angle to help future interventions.

Evening all,

I'm just in the process of replacing my 3200 coolant pump and have a few, hopefully staright-forward, questions for those who may have replaced theirs?

Manual says use Loctite 510 - is this still preferred or should I/can I use Hylomar blue?
Again manual says apply sealant to block, then gasket, then pump - is it worth putting some between the gasket and the pump too?
Mine seems to have lost the dowels to hold the gasket in place and help the seating of the pump (has had a previous pump change prior to me) - problem or should it still go together okay if I'm careful?

Again, any advice from the Maserati Massive gratefully received!

I have this so as well - where did you source your pump from?
Change your cam belt as well - it has to come off

Got the pump from Meridian Modena - bit cheaper than ES with the SM discount! Changing the belt anyway - hence the pump too, didn't want to risk it as it had some slight play in it.

To reply to the upper water pipe holder that prevents removing the stud, I used a dremel to create a gap just wide enough to slide the tab out of the stud. The nut, when placed, still holds the water pipe firmly. Just did 1/2h ago.
