Hi David, these cars are made to be handled with care. Besides, any car will rust if the owner doesn't pay attention.

Rust, no, just watch the leading edge of the rear arches as stones get thrown up and over time chip the paint and galvanisation away. Also, the lower boot lips go, again through poor care. The lids get slammed and debri sits on the rear bumper again removes the paint and galvanisation.

Just rub rust remedy round both areas twice a year and maybe a little touch up paint if required.

Generally, no, these cars are not know for rust issues.

Just looked at the car, it does not spring to mind but there are a lot of members on here.

Sounds like a great car though, the seller is saying all the right things.

One of two did have some rust issues beneath the rear lights, easy fix though. Fully galvanised as per the spec of these cars

Looks good...if truly interested you are duty bound to get a full indie inspection carried out

I wouldn't believe the manual clutch lasting 3 times more than the cambiocorsa bit, otherwise it seems good.

So it has - that's annoying.
Out of interest do DL/Main dealers do an inspection - Porsche do a 11 point check that gets used.
Otherwise there is somewhere in the cotswolds or emblem. Anywhere else south central, I can't see anything on the lists

Where are you DavidL......MDs might do an inspection, but make sure they don't do it at an MD rate!

Swindon. So DL is here and Bob H is not that far away. This car was in Newbury so (as an example) it may have been a bit of an ask to get them to drive it to BH or Emblem if DL couldn't help.
Or do we feel that its a reasonable request even if its a hour or so away?

Sometimes the seller is willing to take to the indie/MD......or indie will charge extra for the journey

I have to disagree slightly over the rust issue as I have seen some issues with 32/4200.
As Mat stated rear arches are prone as is area forward of the rear wheel area where stone rash hits it.
also check the area where the front lights seal as the pait can flake off.
brake pipes also corrode so have a check under the car.
check the inside area around the rear lights as two plates meet there and the area fists from the inside out.

Indeed Peter...had to replace a front brake pipe two weeks ago, completely shot, the drivers side, other side fine! Plus check integrity of oil pipe which runs behind engine between it and the bulkhead......just wear and tear items truly
