That’s Damocles’ sword....
As long as it's not a case of "Hickam's dictum" - both my thermostat AND my crank sensor need(ed) changing....
Anyway I'm now waiting to see what happens next...

Yes, my fingers are exceedingly crossed ! Thanks again for your encouragement.Tony this is great news, I’m so pleased you’ve had success, although it’s early days, so fingers crossed!! I still try to replicate the hot start issue, but I can’t. It hasn’t let me down once since changing the thermostat.
Ah yes...the constant companion and a personal favourite, albeit in a DJ and dickie bow; I know this truth by a another name. Sod's Law !As long as it's not a case of "Hickam's dictum" - both my thermostat AND my crank sensor need(ed) changing....

UPDATEUnless I do soon get another hot-restart problem it will be some weeks before I really start to feel confident that the new thermostat has solved the problem. Many weeks, even, as I have other, older, sportscars that need to be exercised.
Thanks again to all,
Tony

When was the carbon canister last changed ? Sounds like a classic case of a saturated carbon canister.Hi Tony
I have an 07 GS and it has an intermittent problem, have just returned from a road trip to Rome with a spin over an Alpine pass. Great drive.
Most days were around 6hr drives at good speeds. I think I had the hot start issue 2 or 3 times, stopped to refuel then back in to get going and really had to crank the engine over to fire up and then picked up slowly.
Feels like the fuel in the engine bay has evaportated due to temperature under bonnet.
Who knows also noticed it a couple of years ago on a road trip to Scotland.
Have just finished washing all the bugs off!
See ya
Mark
