hello, please can anyone confirm that when replacing a manual clutch on a 4200 it can be done without using an SD2/3 diagnostic machine, also my understanding is that clutch wear can not be checked on a manual, only the cambiocorsa, thanks

Can't see any reason you'd need an SD2. You might be able to check the wear looking at it from underneath

I've been looking into his as the clutch on mine bites quite high, and have drawn the conclusion that neither diagnostic machine, nor balancing equipment should be needed for a manual car (the latter seems to be a point of contention mind!)

On another note, has anyone tried a relined clutch in one of these? I've been in touch with MD Clutches, who reline clutches for many Ferrari's. They tell me that it should be possible.
I believe they can reline with regular Valeo material in the correct thickness rather than
They also refurbish the flywheel (skim?) and will balance the pair together.
Estimated cost was just a little over half of a new clutch item (inc. flywheel refurb), which seems to be around £1,200 for the manual, with an estimated 2-3 day turn around.

I have heard good things about MD clutches, they also do Kevlar friction plates but to my knowledge no one has given any clear reports on how they got on with it.

In terms of balancing, the story I got from Ed at Christian Lewis is that whenever they balance a new clutch, CC or otherwise, using the SD2 it always asks for a 0.5 gram (I think) weight at 180 degrees. Take from that what you will...
