Hi all

Anyone here with a manual box that has experienced difficulties moving the gearstick down from 3rd gear into 2nd gear or 5th down into 4th gear? Sometimes not a problem, other times a complete pain to engage. I think some adjustment can be made to ease shifting, has anyone here had their shifting adjusted?, is it an easy DIY job or garage specialist job? Where is/are the adjuster/s located? Did it improve the down shift, I've read that 2nd gear can be an issue until adjusted...

Thanks
James

Hi James ,the answer to all your questions is yes , they can be adjusted , but are prone with regular use to need adjusting every 6-12 months ,the manual gearbox is in effect a cc box manually adjusted by a series of linkages ,these wear and stretch, not a job i would want to tackle personally and im hands on at most things , Marcos had his done once or twice by emblem ,said it felt like a different box afterwards

I've bought Marcos' car and it had a new linkage the day before I picked it up. 1st to 2nd was not great and neither 5th to 6th but after two weeks and 500 miles, they are both loosening up. All other changes are excellent. It's the first fully manual I've had since my 3200 about three years ago and I've noticed a huge improvement on that. Be warned, I didn't pay but it's not cheap. I think it was about £500 @ Emblem.

So it's worth doing then? The Ferrari centre in Maidstone offered to adjust mine but they said it was a bit of a lottery so it didn't inspire me with confidence! Does anyone know where might be best to go for a reliable adjustment?
