Yep must be gearbox related if stepping on the pedal affects it. Did you remove the pedal switch and inspect it?

Just been reading on other forums about other cars not revving past 4k rpm in Neutral etc and found this gem on the M5 F10 forums

"Why would anyone want to rev an engine past 4k rpm in park?"

OMG, if only he could see us lot :D

Brillliant, thanks Phil and C, just taken switch out and put back in and started her up and we have revs with foot on brake! :happy2: Havent had a chance to go for a blast as waiting for National Windscreens to come and do a chip on other wagon, but fingers crossed.

Well done lads,

So if I'm reading the above right the brake light switch has jammed on, the brake lights would be on too? And it's the engine management saying that the car is braking so why go over 4000rpm?

Turns out the brake switch is in fact two (hoping I've got this right) Brakes is normally open. The signal for the ECUs is normally closed. If the normally closed one is broken, the lights might be totally fine, but the car still do all sorts of odd things.

Well, just been for a 30 mile blast along the coast road and all appeared to be fine, so if does it again that's the first place I will look. A big thanks to everyone who contributed, this place is Ace, The forum rules !:goodjob:
