My 2002 4200 always stays on. It only comes off when the guys at the dealer adjust the PIS, otherwise once turned on it never comes off unless I press the button.

My MY'04 4200 didn't stay in sports mode. It needed pressing at each start, which as others have mentioned, soon became second nature.

My GS stays in sports mode across multiple starts unless I do a reset.

So it sounds like some kind of ECU software version, with the later version losing the on-ness of the sport button. Shame they changed it.

2002 Spyder, Sport mode stays on. Only time I have to switch it back on is after Emblem have had it and if I do a battery reset. Can't think why you would ever want it off.

The only reflex switch I need is to drop the roof, it gives the engine 30 secs warm up before it gets thrashed :)

Off on restart on mine; an early (March) 03 build but I have the internal aerial not the wing mounted as you do Chris I'm wondering if these subtle changes also coincide with the ECU update?

Bloody annoying though, mind you it is second nature to put it on as soon as I'm clear of speed humps!

I agree, I find it increasingly frustrating Chris... Mostly because of the gear change 'lag' as I said it is off for speed humps (prolific around here) and when in really heavy traffic for the less aggressive clutch on pull away...

I came back from Felice's the other day, and really thought the clutch must have been getting really worn. Then after about 30 miles realised I'd forgotten to turn sport back on.....

Took me long enough to get in the habit of folding the mirrors. Which I now can't do....
