I think some of the jobs can actually remove the regular failure mechanisms like getting the TB and pedal pot done contactless, I have not really had any problems since I sorted that. I also think the upgrade to the Bosch starter motor and putting silicone hoses on the top of the engine while in there doing the starter all reduce the "regular" failures. However there is still the suspension ball joints which don't last, although I think putting better quality rubber boots on them when new helps a bit. There is also the shocks which don't seem to last that long without some maintenance.
