My GTS service light has just turned on. It's a 2009 car with 30k on the clock. Before I call around just wondered if this is a "big service" or a small one and what I can be expected to pay at a main dealer? Thanks.

The 6 year service is normally just the same as the 2 year service. The big ones are 4 & 8 but it depends on what you had done at 4 years old - O2 sensors and fuel breather can being the 4 year additional items. A sensible dealer will do a bare minimum (oil/filter & air/pollen filters) and inspect to see if things like brake/ps fluids, coolant, 2x aux belts and tracking actually need doing. Therefore hard to answer!

They should be able to give you a price over the phone. Do you have a decent indie near by you can compare prices with?

Just be careful going for a fixed price 6 year service as it may include things which actually don't need doing. It's sometimes better agreeing a fixed price for a basic service and then discussing things once the car is in as inspection may show that some stuff can wait.

Mine has just had the 6 year done at HR Owen London and it was treated as a regular 2 year service. Cost was £1,100 inc Vat. Good luck!

Thanks - pretty much what I am being quoted by most dealers - £1100-£1400 inc VAT.

£1100 was the lowest I have been quoted so far.

not sure - they never gave me a breakdown of what work will be done?

Yes I know - I had it carried out around 4 months ago when my car was in for some work (was done under warranty!)

Yep that's why quoted prices vary so much as they often are not like for like. Things like alignment and pollen filters may not be in the price and, indeed, may not be needed. You just need to ensure you are getting what you want and the price is transparent in that regard.

Alignment is meant to be included in two year time services and is in the book but you can make your price £200 cheaper if you quote without it.

If you're based in London then Nuvola (an indie) quoted me around 900 I think (not sure of that includes VAT tho) but he said he gets it done through a main dealer (can't remember which one) and passes some of his trade discount through to you so you get the official stamp in your book. My 6 year is due early next year

Nuvola use Lancaster as the MD or Giallo as the indie but I would have thought any discount would only be applicable if you bought the car from him in the first place?

I used him for all my work (gasket, jetwash, tyres, etc) so I guess that's why he has offered it to me then

As i bought the car through Nuvola Nareman arranged the service for me at Lancaster Maserati - car was collected, serviced and sent back all for £800 - I love my car even more now :D:D:D

Why would anyone buy from a main dealer when an independent dealer offers service like this - top dealer Nuvola 5 stars!
