They were, I'd second that. Adults and children alike were a joy to take round.

No question. There wasn't a single person who rode in my car who wasn't impeccably mannered. Even the pair of immensely gravitationally challenged gentlemen who Lisa kindly pointed my way, were good enough to sit one on the left, and one on the right. Can't fault any of the people who stumped up a fiver to be flung round the circuit by a bunch of mostly amateur drivers; they were all great. I haven't even needed to clean the inside of my car, apart from getting bits of dead grass and grit off the mats.

Favourite recollection was a pair of fantastic little kids - blonde girls aged about 4 or 5, screaming for me to go faster and faster, while their mother screamed the opposite :) Happy days!

My favourite was a lady named Diane who had been "made" to do a lap by her ten year old son. She started screaming at the start and was almost in a foetal position by the time we had straightened out after the first left hander. She loved every moment and agreed that her son was right. Wish I'd had the video running for that one!

My favourites were a teenager and her younger sister. I chatted to her before hitting the gate and she's been up and down the pit lane all day trying lots of different cars. At the end of the lap I asked her which car was her favourite. She couldn't remember, so I suggested the scoobies? The TVR's? Lotus? She just shook her head and said "I dunno, I just like the feeling of going fast"

Nearly brought a tear to my eye and reminded me why I got into cars in the first place. I hope she grows up to own a fast car and still remembers that feeling.

My favourite was a guy who shouted "f*ck!" at the top of his voice as we accelerated out of the starting gate. He apologised immediately, covering his mouth and quite embarrassed. I told him not to worry about it (anyone who knows what I called the GTR driver will attest I have a potty mouth) but he then spent the rest of the lap shouting more expletives and immediately apologising every time we braked or accelerated hard and went round bends. I was in stitches by the time we completed the lap!

Loved everyone that went in the little M3.....I was very suprised how it held its own in such company.....Was ver proud when one chap said it he had just been out in a GTR but the M3 was the fastest he had been arounf the bends today and what a car............Oh and the the two young girls whiI was speaking to on the way around about what was going on...WHen we finished the lap I looked over at the the one in the front and she looked scared to death........They then came back for more.........We are very lucky gents to drive these sort of cars and you realise it more on a day lke Brunty.

That's the truth, Andy. The cars that we go to the shops in and drop the kids to school in (well, sometimes) are cars that other people will spend hard-earned money to be driven in. Sure, a trip to the shops is *usually* a bit less hairy than a lap of Brunti, but nonetheless we're certainly lucky.

I lost count of the number of people who asked if it was rude to ask what the car cost, and what I did for a living... Many assumed it was £100k+ and that we were all millionaires.

For those of us who don't have the "history" of the Bruntingthorpe event, could someone bring us up to speed about what the day is about?

I have worked out that you guys take paying guests around the track in your cars for charity - but haven't understood how the punters find out about the day, or whether its part of a bigger event.

Whatever, it sounds like a fantastic day, and with it being relatively close to me here in sunny Warwick, a day I would LOVE to join in with next year.

P.s. Picking the car up later today *excited*

Have a read of this, Malcolm. It gives you a great view of what it's all about:

Be sure to post some pics of the new mistress when you have a chance.

I had one boy ask me "what's the best job to do to be able to afford a car like this?". I asked how old he was and whether he liked iPod games or not. When he said 11 and yes, my reply was to get his dad to buy him an iMac and start an Internet and iPod games company as soon as he got home.

I had some real characters in. Young kids who just wanted to go 'as fast as you can' to an elderly gentleman who, as I was told, only wanted to go at 30mph. When I suggested 130 would be more fun he laughed and said "I'll leave it to you". I ragged it a fair bit and he never flinched or twitched and when we came in he had a smile plastered across his face and said that was easily the fastest he had ever been in car in his life. He can now tell his mates down the pub he's done 150. There are times when I think we take these fantastic machines for granted, but days like this can give us all a reality check and it is heart warming to think they will go and tell their friends they have been out in a Maserati for a ride they will never forget.

Massive thank you Andy and really well done for organising such a fantastic day.
All the passengers were great, some more noisy than others!! but huge privilege to be able to make so many leave with a smile on their faces.
Lisa delighted to help and say's thank you to everyone. Count her in (and me for that matter!) next year.
Great to meet so many of you and I have a growing respect for the 4200's & Spiders. Maf, your car is awesome as is Miles's Victory and Benny's Spider is just a mental sound.
Adam, hope you've survived ok, I'm sure you won't be asked to leave next year.
Well done to Enzo and Adrian who seemed to be constantly going round, my first time in any sort of AMG and my god it was impressive. Clearly Adrian knows how to handle it.
Thanks again Andy, top job!
Cheers Blu (Miles, the other one!)

One that stuck in my mind 'What on earth do you do for a living to be able to afford this?'

Nice lady: Is this your car
Me: I'm happy to say it is
Nice lady: And you work for ASDA?

LoL

I had 2 little boys who couldn't see over the dashboard putting the hands in the air as we left the gate like being on a roller coaster, got back to the gate and said... again...again did think about it but the dad was waiting

Leaving the gate and on to the track was like hitting warp drive when leavng the Death Star....It was all the cones flashing by and harming between the two larger cones at the end...Brilliannt.......

Catalan.....

Its an ASDA run event which has been running for a few years now...A driver passed away with cancer I believe and two of his mates started the event and its just grown and grown and grown to what it is today...Its a massive event that raises a shed load of cash for charity and gives pleasure to many a child and grown up.....Its great as kids that would not normally be able to go on track can because of age can and no helmets required....This is because its by invitation only so not opeen to the public but you woldn't think so from looking how many people come along.........Fatastic event......Next years can not come soon enough........

An added benefit, which helps to make this simply the best charity event anywhere ever, is that those of us giving up our time have as much (if not more) fun as the punters :D
