Account hacking attempts?

Hi,
today I've received 2 emails, one saying its from sportsalfa.com , the other sportslancia.com both stating that somebody has tried to log in to my account and had five failed attempts. Both emails gave a different IP address as a source for the attempts.

I've never joined either of those sites but are they linked to this one with a shared account?

Anyway, somebody out there is tried to get into my account.

If admin want , I can forward the emails with the IP numbers. I didn't click on them in case it was a way of directing me to a malware site.

thanks

Simon

Ok, both attacks came via Ukraine, I have now removed the sportsLancia domain so this should stop the attack from this direction. Hopefully its just an isolated incident.

Has anyone else had any account hack notifications in the past 5 days?

Did those IP numbers in the emails redirect to a site? I didn't bother clicking on them for obvious reasons?

I wonder what the motive was and why they didn't try and log on at sportsmaserati? Do you know what words they tried as the password?

No, just an individual, maybe a junior hacker learning his trade...got shown the door anyhow.

Hi, had another failed login attempt email last night but on this site. I guess with all these VPN services the hacker could actually be anywhere?

Ok, I have worked out why they are only hacking certain members.

Its due to your username being simple....Mark, Paul, Peter, Graham etc.

If you change your name to something else like Simon4200, you won't get hacked.

Anyone wishing to have their username changed, please email me at:

admin@sportsmaserati.com

Only emails requests to change the username from that users registered email address will be actioned.

Oh that's a shame - could be the subject of a whole new thread

"What user name should.......<enter name here>........be?"

They tried again later this afternoon. Whats the point behind all this? Why not just register as a user?

Can you block IP's from the Ukraine accessing this site?
