That steering wheel and the red! Dog knob tastic!!!!! FFS Beau you need a good shoeing from the style police.

Iv already said to someone else that the steering wheel would have to be redone in black, but either way, with what it's had done, and mileage price seems very good

Wow with figures like that I think I'd best go for the Cayman. I don't think I could afford to pay 3-4K for variators that's a big hit...I feel a bit downhearted now

One I linked has new variators and clutch, so I'd say that's a safe bet

You only live once, **** it ! Just do it :) I have no money saved to fix mine, if it breaks il be skint, but do I care? No haha

Do not be put off - just do your homework. You will need consumables like brakes and tyres, you might need some other big things and you might not. My own QP Sport GT has expensive brakes, where other QP models can use the non-OEM parts supplied by this very forum. My car "needed a new clutch" when I bought it. That was over two years and 20k miles ago. Sure it would benefit from a new clutch, but it is still working just fine for now. More money for tyres and carbon credits :D

How much is a set of brakes for a Cayman? Do they ever go wrong? What about tyres, my 1984 911 needed new rears every 6000 miles.

Just had a look at the car in question - love it! The red interior is awesome and seems to have alcantara headlining.
Wonder if they would trade in both my QP and 3200 GT for it? Would want the change of course ;)

See that's the kind of motivation I'm talking about haha! I only plan on keeping her 2 years so if the big jobs have just been done then surely that's the best way to go...may have to start talks on the black one

That car was for sale in Scotland last summer for nearly £40k and struggled as all the red put people off (I guess) but you could always easily put a black steering wheel in to soften it down.

The 4.7 is becoming really good value now. Consider which gearbox you want (auto or MC) as they are very different and enjoy what you buy.

I really like it and all the red...Matts GTS had the same interior I believe.

My advice would be to make sure it has a good suitable warranty - one that includes everything by default, with a list of exceptions, rather than one that only lists what covered. You may find Maserati issues won't be included on 'what's covered'. Eg, F1-type gear selector hardware.

My mate has done about 10k on his Cayman in the last two years.
The cost of discs and pads is shocking for it!

Haha yes I would prefer the Mc Shift but not sure of their availability in my price range...I have a limit on my purchase price .

I've had aftermarket exhausts on both my 350 and 370z ....the noise was my favourite thing about them so yes the GTS sound is one of the main reasons I'm looking at them.

Do you think I'd be disappointed then if I got the auto?

I was in same position as you to some extent. I had a 'restricted budget' in my head. And test drove the 4.2, 4.7 Auto and the MC Shift.
As others have said - IMO the MC Shift is a no brainier. Totally different car, and sounds a drives really well.

Richard G would be worth chatting to as he has good cars, but also a very measured opinion on the merits of the Auto vs MC Shift and ways of making the auto sound better.

Give him a call you wont regret it.

Is Richard G the guy in Chester as I'm from Liverpool? What did you do in the end then? Did you take the plunge? How did things work out???

Interesting...it's funny as I'm now liking the sound of any price increases on the Cayman as it's making my Maserati choice seem more sensible

Your getting all the information so you need to experience them in the flesh and you will know.
If you like driving and smiling at the same time its F1 but the auto box is brilliantly suited to a large GT.
Spend less get a really good 4200 variant and keep some cash spare.
The one with the dry sump engine :)

Can't get a better offer than from a forum member.
Just be wary if he asks you if you want to star in a video :)

If you can get to Manchester tomorrow you can have a look around mine.

I'm going down to Dorset today but if I could pop up another time that would be amazing mate. Prob a lot more useful than visiting some dealer?
