Going to sort some test drives out soon I think..I've also recently started considering the f type. The list is only growing and getting more confusing

On average how long do the brakes last on the GTS? I'll be doing town driving mainly with longer distance at weekends

All depends on driving style and how well you can keep the brakes clean.
They are heavy cars and the new to minimum thickness is minimal.
The Dealership love changing them as big money maker.
Use an independent for your brakes if serviced by the Dealer.

I drove both the MC-Shift and the MC-Auto before going for the MC-Auto.

As Jon mentioned previously, in Sport - Manual mode its pretty mega. You will never get bored of the noise, which is particularly good in tunnels and multi-storey car parks!

Drive both and decide yourself. Not sure where you're based but you're welcome to look around mine, I'm based near Reading.

Followed one for Miles yesterday and they do look good, It was the V6 with centre tail pipes, don't sound good enough for me. The V8 R on the other hand, that's a nice sounding motor.

Indeed it is, although the one I followed through Bell Common seemed un-amused

I agree that the F-type R looks and sounds awesome.... and if you don't need 4 seats would be a very serious contender...

I parked my GTS next to an F Type R this afternoon.

3-0 to the Maser when it comes to the yoof of today. Three teenage boys all got their phones out and took at picture of my car.
The Jag could have been a Mondeo for all they cared about it.

The f type R is definitely a beast of a car and much faster than the GTs.. But I personally don't think it looks anywhere near as nice and price wise you are well onto stradale territory. And not far off an F car.
I bet it wouldn't draw as many looks as a trident, and couldn't possibly sound as good as an MC shift, the v6 twin centre tailpipes F type is just a no no.

I drove several F Types at Milbrook on a Jag/Evo day a while back. The V6 SC was good but not for me. Needed the V8 R noise really. The convertible V8 R was awesome with that noise echoing though Milbrook's Alpine Forest's

Indeed....great VFM. I'd like to see a proper manual version as well. Not sure if they did one.

What type of jag? Certainly not an F type R!

I've got 30k to play with so it would be the base v6 f type I'd be looking at. It's going to come down to how it sounds I think can. I think it's a more sensible option for me yet still a step up from the 370z then after that I can maybe come back to maser territory...going to test drive both this weekend I've decided

I've had my GTS MC Shift for 4 years.

My running costs have only been fuel and servicing every 2 years. Nothing else has left my pocket.

The last service was £2600 or something similar.

Clutch is on 30% and it has done 15,400 miles.

But my mpg is averaging at 16. Over the entire period I have owned her.

It is no way a sports car. It won't drive like your Porsche Cayman. You have to remember it is a full on GT car. Big heavy cruiser not light and nimble and suited to larger roads rather than tight B roads.

But what it does give you is a sexy body, 4 seats and an amazing sense of occasion through the noise and many many admiring glances and remarks.

I get everyone including old ladies admiring the car. One incident last week - a lady driver going the opposite way in a tight road slows right down pushes her car right to the side into the bushes and as she creeps past she says. Sorry I really don't want to scratch your beautiful car.

If you need 4 seats get it. There is nothing else that matches it.

If you only need 2 seats and want a sports car you really need to try everything else out as there is so much out there and make sure the GTS is really what you want.

Those are my thoughts. For me it was an easy choice as I have all bases covered.
