im assuming its suspension. the lil car symbol with an up arrow and a down arrow underneath the 'sport' light. got in the car today started her up and its the only one that wont go out. car seems ok though. does anyone know what could be the cause?? 02cc 33k miles

Likely to be a suspension actuator. If the car hasn't been used for a while they can flag up. Do a battery reset and if it persists, diagnostic required. Not likely to be a big problem for you.

thanks guys. iv been using it though i used it yesterday, and it was fine. iv tried a battery reset... by battery reset i asume you mean on/offing the battery in the boot? ill try another one over a longer period. what is likely to be wrong with the actuators?

Thats easy,Its either a seized damper or a control motor fault

When you turn on the ignition the system goes through a check....if you get a mate to put his hand on the red motors in turn you should be able to narrow it down to the damper thats no working and throwing the fault code

Its not rocket science, these old engine/suspention management systems are surprisingly easy to understand when you get into them

Sometimes they are Christmas trees to drive .... But it's not serious just an Italian thing ......think of Italians not getting enough coffee and the shenanigins that go on ...... It's like that and generally means very little.

I got a used damper with actuator for about if I recall. Fitting was quite simple.

If you remove the actuator, by way of pulling the wire spring clip underneath:

They rattle if they are broken:

You can get this guy to replace the nylon gears with metal one, he did one for me and it was excellent:

Just check the gear on the top of the shock that the actuator mounts too has not broken off, its a small geared tooth:

You can test the shock by turning the gear with your fingers. Note it only turns a quarter or half a turn in either direction and should not be stiff.
