Have a cobra alarm immobiliser fitted when I purchased car not sure if originally installed or afterwards.
The only keyfob which I had has stopped working so am looking at options of getting a new alarm system fitted.

There *should* be an OEM one. I can't believe any were made without an alarm. Are you saying you have two alarms, or two immobilisers, or both?

There was 1 blue key with a loose blade so got a duplicate one put transponder chip into new key. The cobra fob works with 2 buttons boot release alarm/door lock/unlocked. The car wouldn't start without the transponder key.

If I understand this right, you have a key with buttons on it and and seperate fob which also has buttons, and it is this which has packed in? If it were the key buttons that has stopped working its usually the micro switch falling off the PCB and a fairly easy fix.

Yes that's correct, So basically want to know if there's any other alternative options.

There will be plenty I assume, but as your setup if pretty close to being unique (most have the OEM arrangement) so you are probably best placed to talk to an alarm specialist.

I used these guys to kit me out with a new alarm board and fobs when my only ignition key packed in.

Maybe they can help;

I spoke with them about it, just got to find where the Alarm ecu boards are located.
Abacusalarms are local to me.

Standard ones I guess rather than the OPs non-standard alarm.

You cant get the PCB for the blue keys anymore so if they fail the work around is to have the PCB functions transfered to a key fob. This is how Timpsons and abacus alarms and no doubt a few other companies handle the problem. So you have a dumb key with the transponder and a fob coded for the doors / boot and alarm.

By the sounds of it you dont have a cobra alarm fitted just a cobra key fob for your alarm.

In which case if abacus are near you then they should just be able to clone the key remote functions again onto a new fob.

As Zep mentioned it is also worth checking the two micro switches on the original blue key to make sure they work as the solder usually fails on them or the switch itself fails. I have an old thread on the forum which shows the repair i did to the micro switches on the blue key. The micro switches are just a few pound for a bag of 10. Do a visual check on the legs of the switches to make sure they are still attached and then check with a volt meter if necessary to check the function of the switches. Abacus will probably be able to test / repair the blue key for you if its not the PCB that has failed.

PCB's that do the same functions are still available just not in the form factor used for the mas blue keys which is why they move the functions to a keyfob when necessary.

Just a update, Maserati Alarm ECU is missing seems the previous owner bypass fitted a cobra 8185 alarm immobiliser with a touch key system which also allowed all remote operations of doors and boot. This too has a battery backup siren. I believe it's all packed up so got a wiring diagram traced the 2 immobiliser circuits one is fuel pump the other starter circuit, temporarily bypass so car can now start. Now need to see what my options are as the alarm is NLA.
Has anyone else got a different alarm fitted ?
