You're on 200 cell rear Larini's, MB, correct? Plus the x-pipe.

Also bystanders.

Temptation is a wonderful thing but the joy of the noise is more wonderful. Do it! You'll never look back.

Yep, that's right Adam

Worryingly, Phil, time in the Banana-mobile at Le Mans seems to have re-calibrated my expectations of "sounds about right". I'm starting to think that Larinis might sound rather nice.

This forum and its reprobates has a nasty way of redefining normal...

Not far to go, now, MAF. A little tinkering in Manchester and then Basildon in the coming two weeks will probably allow the more aural pleasures to move further up the "bloody critical things to do" list.

Having my secondary decat pipes fitted tomorrow. Already have the forum X pipe so i am expecting to be smiling quite a bit on the way home since i have been frequently told its only when you change two parts of the exhaust system that the sound truly gets unleashed (the system being secondary cats, x pipe and rear boxes)

I think mine is louder than yours so yes yours need a bit more volume!

How TF did I miss that fighting talk?? Is you calling me a girl? Like ar5e it is! Mine is right bloody loud and yours is but the mumblings of a timorous child.

Notwithstanding the above facts, you may be right about the volume potential, Phil.

Ok so had the secondary decats fitted Wednesday. The sound is much more raspy than the original exhaust, with some nice crackles and pops on the over run. A definite improvement in throttle response too. Yet i still find myself somehow yearning for a little more noise - i was expecting the thing to really sound out loudly with the decats and x pipe but at idle or when cruising the sound is still rather subdued. Certainly better than the original system though.

What options do i have left? Would modifying the rear boxes be my next port of call?

Let me know your findings as I have a number of items I need to sort across the 'fleet' before I spend anything else on this toy

X-pipe is a start but won't make a significant difference on its own. Gathered wisdom says you need to modify 2 of 3 components (cats/centre box/rear boxes) to hear a notable difference. Rear boxes make the most noticeable change on their own - you can get your OEM GS boxes modified so that they sound standard when you want, but roar when you put your foot down/in sport mode. Contact Benny for details, it's not dear.

Hi Guys,

I have read a number of the "exhaust" debates/solution threads, If I was just more concerned about the "possible" breakdown of ceramic material and hence forth the associated engine drama which would be the best route to go. I am not to concerned about the sound "yet - may change when I hear other". This would be next years work - probably to get done at MOT or service time.
