Guys

Someone (Ray from AutoRacingTechnik) in Melbourne, Australia made an X-pipe for GS.
He gonna make de-cat pipe for GS soon.
He made carbon fiber spoiler and carbon fiber door insert for GS already.
He gonna fit it on in my car in the next few days.
The joiners and the welding are very good.

Nice looking fabrication. Why so may joins/pieces? I'm counting 8 per side. How are the welds finished inside the pipes?

Joins because it is made from mandrel bend sections to maintain shape and cross-sectional area.
Step-up and step-down also in separate sections.
All TIG but welded so smooth inside. X-pipe section fractionally larger diameter to account for the flow change in the X-joint.

So I finally took the plunge and got a custom X-Pipe built and installed by Auto Racing Technik in Melbourne. The pipe installed is similar to X-Pipe in the pictures above. Here are my thoughts. Overall the level of sound has not increased that much during normal driving. The note of the exhaust has changed to be a slightly more bass tome, which I like. There is a noticable improvement in power above 5000 RPM, but not a dramatic one.

I have taken 2 videos. 1 before with the standard exhaust, 1 after with just the X-Pipe fitted. You can make up your own minds. Apologies for the quality, it was taken on an iPhone camera in my garage.

i'm thinking about doing the same thing, then adding the front pipes when Ray has got them ready.

Keep us updated.

I saw the beginning of the front pipes today. I intend to do the same. Yes, will keep you posted.

I popped in today to pick up my car which had a DBW installed whilst I was away on holidays, and saw the pipe progress. Ray is still os. Do we have an approx cost on this?

I have a larini x pipe and had the decats removed so not sure how much bang for my buck I would get by installing a new front section without the 'squashed bit'.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The cats are the biggest point of restriction.. so maybe not as much bang for your buck... did you notice any difference by removing the second cats??

I had the X pipe fitted and decats removed at the same time. Yes there s a noticeable difference in power and a much nicer exhaust note compared to the standard. I'll try to get around posting a video with sound.

I don't have a price for the front pipe yet. The GS will be different to my 4200 anyway as my front cats are in the front pipe section and will be replaced as part of the work.

For GS the front pipe won't be long. They will finish it soon and the ray will tested.
I'll post the video of my car with the new front pipe as soon as my car ready.
