The Airbag and Child Seat Warning lights have just come on on my 2005 4200. I've read a few posts about the issue potentially being with the airbag deactivation switch on the passsenger side. Car has 70K on clock and from reading the posts, now is about the right time for the issue to appear. car is due its MOT next week! Is changing the switch worthwhile? Any thoughts on Using A Regular Alfa Garage To Fit The Switch?

The switch on the passenger side is a simple press in / out fit. It's also an Alfa part, should cost about £5. Same as the item from 147 / 156 GT. DIY or pay anyone near you.

Thanks. I assume it's the switch operated by the key? Can you explain how to replace it please?

Ah, now I've never done it. I can have a look tomorrow, but my understanding is that you remove the liner from the glovebox. Disconnect the push terminals from the switch and literally push it out.

I'll also take a look in the morning. Do you think the warning lights will go out once the new switch is fitted or will I need a reset?

I *think* you'll need an SD2/2 reset, for airbags, but a battery reset may be enough. When I had the same issue, McGrath had to reset it
