For quote a while, the car has had an intermittent battery drain. The battery goes flat over a day or so, and I found that locking it with the key seems to solve it, so assume it is alarm related. I tried measuring parasitic drain with a clamp meter, but need the boot open to do that, which seems to upset the alarm.
Whilst out for a short trip last week I locked the car with the remote. When I unlocked it the alarm siren made 5 short 'pip' noises in quick succession, and still does this. My suspicion is that there is a rechargeable battery in the alarm module that is dying, and when it drains then it drains the car battery trying to recharge itself. Perhaps the 5 pips mean it is completely flat?
As far as I know there is no tracker fitted.
Anyone have any idea on this one?
thanks
Paul
