Hi

I saw one of these recently it and would be interested to hear what my fellow members think of it.

Just to remind you it has the same engine you would find in a Quattroporte Sport GT S and a Granturismo MC shift as well as the same robotised gearbox,in fact it shares many parts with Maserati including a shortened chassis.

Personally I think it's something special to see.image.jpg

Do you guys prefer the coupe or the spider ?

I would usually go for the coupe but there were extensive changes made to the spider that apparently made it a much better drive plus you get to hear that noise in full symphony !image.jpg

A fantastic car & for the me, the coupe wins hands down. I don't mind the little 4C too

Personally I would go for the Spider, I think the roof on the Coupe looks really strange from some angles.

Stunning car....Spider for me....and it is a better drive from what I've read as they put right the bits that weren't so good on the coupe.

Coupe 100% and the chassis is a 4200 Spyder believe it or not and not a shortened GTS/QP

The 4200 chassis is wobbly and needs the roof to firm it up.

I have never heard that before. All the research I've done into the car has been that the chassis is a modified and shortened Quattroporte one as explained below by autocar :

Much of the 8C’s chassis recipe comes from Maserati. Take one Maserati Quattroporte floorpan, shorten it 40cm (to 2650mm), build a new rear structure then bolt in the Quatroporte’s subframe-mounted, double-wishbone suspensions, suitably adapting them with special springs, dampers, anti-roll bars, suspension bushes and body fixings.

I think you will find that Conaero is right as I've been told by one in the know that it's a spyder floorpan. Taking 16 inches out of a floorpan is a lot and why would you when you have a spyder floorpan already there?

Well now... here's an interesting thought. If the Maserati wishbones are required to be inspected by the dealers under the DVSA agreement, surely that would extend to all other vehicles using the same (or very similar) components? I'm sure DVSA will be done due diligence on the matter and checked with Maserati that all vehicles with those components are included, and had notices issued... Sure of it....

I once saw an 8C for sale for 80K.

I got very excited, and then got more excited still, and then i realised I still couldn't afford it.

I comfort myself with the fact that every car I have ever owned is significantly faster than an 8C through a car park barrier.

Pat, I seem to remember that one and you getting excited....Doubt we would ever see one at that level again.

How long ago was this? If you had bought it surely you would have made money on it now?
