All the problems 3200

IMG_3397.jpgAfternoon all,

I bought my 3200 2 years ago now, no real history with it but it was a steal and I love the car. It gets run up occasionally but no mega issue...that was until 12 months ago to date!
I'll start with the EML light making sporadic appearances which I hear is basically fun and games with the 3200 so no issues there. Then it decided to stay on, along with the error light and a subtle hunting from the engine now. About a month ago I took it out for a spin and at high RMP it splutters fairly dramatically. This is inder load and when the car is static. Last weekend I borrowed a snap-on diag tool and bought the 3pin adapter which the dish tool didn't recognise the car! A quick look under the bonnet in the dark and a friend of mine noticed a subtle arcing/sparking from the centre down by the oil filter while the engines revved high. BUT while I went to inspect this the water hose into the thermostat catastrophically failed in my face! Haha, all fun and games really. So as I sat there a boiled sticky mess listening to my engine cook itself to death I hit a brick wall as to where to turn next.

Long story short can anyone help or does anyone have any ideas what smcould be wrong?

Thanks,

If it's 3pin then pre 2001. Mine is a 2001 car and all hoses are needing replaced soon, I would think just a perished hose, let go before stat opened. A bit of a gamble lack of history and cheap. Hopefully you have something put by for contingency.

Just for now I'd just replace the stat and hose fill it with water, start it up and see what happens..

Thanks guys, I've order some plain black roose hoses and I'll start from scratch. I did test the thermostat in boiling water and it only opened slightly. It I don't think I could keep the water temp high enough.

This sounds like fun... What was the water temperature during this?
Did the fans run?
I didn't see, and the fans hadn't kicked it. I'm think that as I didn't get burnt to a crisp it was t runner that hot. I hoping it was just a perished hose.

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the hunting

Hopefully the hunting is an air leak around the engine intake plenum, mine was.

Assetto, i had heard this was another common issue with them. I think the only thing i can do is wait for the car to be up and running again and slowly work my way through everything. Is there any good info anywhere about code reading a diag?

you need to sort out the unidiag software. Did you connect the 3 pin adapter to an OBD-2 cable and then run unidiag?
