What is not to like? (...apart from it being French of course!)

Looks better than it did when they first showed it. Thought it was a bit TT but really loving the final car. Side profile looks good. A fast car as well....4.5 to 60 with 'only' 255bhp......light though. Around 50k though....feels like it's a 4c competitor with a nicer interior.

0-60 in 4.5 seems rather slow. Maybe not for 225bhp but for something in it's class I would have thought under 4 sec would have made it a true pocket rocket.

Who is actually going to buy one? I would prefer a lotus exige.

Oh I quite like that, may have to sell another kidney now. Nice styling, don't mind the performance, sounds enough to me. I had an old TVR S2 with 200HP only weighed 750Kg and it was excellent, more fun to drive than the modified Chimeara I had with 320HP and about the same weight as the Alpine just over a ton (fear of imminent death always took the edge off the pleasure of driving). The Alpine power to weight is about the same as the 3200, so it should be quick enough! So i think this could be a great car. Nice interior (bit too black for me) and the styling is distinctive, be interesting to see the reviews once its on the road.

Power is more than adequate, and I like the comment made that power isn't everything and they aren't trying to break lap records.
Yes, you could have an exige, but for me, I just like the old school looks and the fact that there are always a couple of original ones at Harewood Hill climb that I admire. I think it certainly attracts the more mature customer!

From what they are saying about it, it should be more fun to drive than the 4C (especially on U.K. roads) and more useable on a day to day basis. Obviously not as hard core as an Exige, but it's not trying to be. It's supposed to be a light, fast, fun car than can be used everyday, but work as a track toy on occasion (as opposed to the other way round, i.e. the Exige).

The limited edition opening run of 1995 cars sold out ages ago, so there appears to be a ground swell of support for it.

Anyone know how many 4C's have been sold so far?

I suspect that would have happened based on the name, and probably before anyone knew what the final car was going to look like.

I like it, and I like this trend towards lightweight cars with this and the 4C, Lotus really need to get their act together though..

I love it and I would jump at one, a great nod to the original design and contemporary enough to look good now - it's a winner in my book

The name thing is interesting. Everyone knows Alfa and that must have helped sell the £50k+ 4 cylinder 4C but, outside of petrolheads over the age of 40, I can't imagine anyone knows Alpine as a car maker with a rich history. When the early adopters have been sated, I wonder how easy a sell this will be.

Good point.
Will sell very well in France though I would imagine.
Looks a great daily drive to me though, would have one no problem if I was in the position to run one as a daily, and would have one over a current Lotus. I love Lotus and have owned Lotus but this is so 'cool' to me

Probably someone who doesn't want to have to bend in half to get in....I've had Exige and they ain't easy to get in and out of as is the 4c....

4.5 for 50k seems pretty rapid to me...A GTS is around that and will cost you 100k new.

That is sweet.

I love the size and weight, it should be a blast on normal roads.

Previous Alpines, especially the late '80s one, had a very home-made knocked-together-in-the-garden-shed feel to them but this looks like it has been developed with the serious heft of Renault's resources behind it. Bravo.

Sorry. Still don't like it.

I don't know the heritage of this car so it has no historical appeal to me.
