Well not that different since it is a front-engined/rear-wheel drive V8 (a BMW 4.8 for those interested). I have been getting acquainted with a Morgan Aero Coupe the last few months. Not everyone's cup of tea I am sure but here are some thoughts:
i) This is the Aero Coupe which means it has a fixed roof, which does not float the boat of the 'Trad' Morgan enthusiasts who like the wind in their beard, but it is closely aligned to the Morgan GT3 which won at Silverstone http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/11/sharpen-wooden-sword-morgans-mean-gt3-machine/ and the original Aeromax. There is also a targa version (the Supersports) but the Coupe is rarer (only 40 made, with 17 RHD).
ii) The driving experience is well described in the above article but otherwise on the road think somewhere between a TVR and Aston Martin Vantage. AP Racing brakes, forged alloys, rose-jointed suspension and side exit exhausts make it more sports car than touring for sure.
iii) The fuel tank is minuscule and takes forever to fill and gives about a 200 mile range by which time you are ready for a break anyway. But it is comfortable once you are in and get used to the driving position and pedals. It is a 6-speed ZF auto and mine (one of the last if not the last built in 2015) benefits from paddle shift.
iv) Parts availability and pricing (and servicing) is akin to owning a Maserati. Sadly.
v) It seems to be universally liked. Actually to be fair mostly liked by 4-6 year old boys who think it is the Batmobile and, strangely, women. It is more Marmite for men but I have had many interesting (and largely positive) reactions.
vi) It is surprisingly small (and smaller than it looks) and once you get confident very easy to place on the road. Does not like bumpy roads (and especially not speed humps which can rip the sump off - mine has a guard fitted).
vii) You have to let go of any 'Car OCD' with a Morgan. It will never be perfect. It is literally built by some chaps in a shed (or sheds; it is still very John Harvey-Jones). But you will have fun.
viii) The giggle factor is high.
Cheers!
