you would think the n/s door would match for that price?

Indeed, the paint is actually on the leading edge of the rear quarter and looks terrible.

Apart from that its lovely and I recon is worth the money.

Don't like the attempt to fit rear parking sensors, that looks bad, bit of paint needed there too I recon.

paddle shift? clearly not sat in the car as it is a standard 3200 auto. i wonder if the mileage is genuine, its seems hard to believe and the interior does not look low mileage? The speedo is easily replaced. i also think the paint looks slightly off, would need to see it up close i think. Seems a lot when you consider the grief they bring.

Weird - that thing has been up for sale since before I was looking... what gives them the idea it will be more marketable at a couple of grand more???

Much as I want to be able to demonstrate to the missus that my 3200 really is an appreciating asset(!), I've seen no evidence to suggest 19+ grand is actually realistic at the moment. 16/17 for a mint one maybe...

Depends what someone will pay at the end of the day. What makes a Porsche of a similar age worth say twice the price of a Maser? It's time these cars re-rated imo and good ones are getting harder to find.

This repricing has been happening quite a lot recently with "cheaper" Ferraris. Some Mondials, 308 GT4s and 400's have been advertised up to 15K more than they originally came onto the market for. As Phil says, the market decides what something is worth and currently it seems there is some support for the view that 3200 prices are rising.

It's like anything. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There are currently 5 GS on auto trader North of 30k. But they have been there for some time now.

Asking isn't the same as getting. It's worth what someone will pay and for some time no one has stumped up £20k on that car let alone £22k. The cynic in me suggests the dealer may be planning a sale in which the price will be slashed by £2k.

In the last year or two I've only seen one 3200 that I would value at around £20k, and it wasn't for sale.

It's a pity there's so little transparency in the used car market. Outside of an auction (eBay or physical) we have no idea how much actual cash is handed over for a vehicle. Only the amount of time cars hang around for sale and any price cuts give us clues...

20k to be fair is peanuts for a car like a Maserati and we all know that. Of course if a car is on at 22k it will probably go for 19k-20k. I know I will take much less for my car but it is worth a try at least.

Supply and demand Philip. There are many more buyers for Porsches than Maseratis for many well documented (and often incorrect given my experience) reasons. 3200s scare away the masses and so they should given their issues and specialist requirements.

Notwithstanding service costs and the laissez-faire attitude of Maserati, I think 3200/4200's offer stonking value for money Phil, and although I've been a Ferrari fan for many years I simply cannot understand recent price hikes for them. As Outrun says, much is due to supply and demand, but I think various 'marque specialists' have been very successful in talking up their brands; whether their prices can be sustained in the long term is another question.

WRT to the subject 3200; I'm suggesting that the £2k increase could be a precursor for a forthcoming 'Sale'.

lets not kid ourselves, the 32 is a good car and as reliable as her younger sisters if the original design failings have been fixed/modified. Should a good one be selling for 20k plus? probably it should be but as others have said, there is not a depth of desirability market for a maser of any type.
I do think the prices are heading up the way though because there is less dross around now.

To the untrained and uneducated that is true. They are no more expensive to run than a Fiat Coupe 20V Turbo say and once the niggles are sorted out they are easy to live with. The problem is there are too many cars which are unloved and need too much attention.

Out of all the performance cars I've owner the Maser has been the most reliable.
