RSM, hope she flies through the test buddy..!!

Its the worst feeling ever - for 30 or so years I am almost on tenterhooks as your pride and joy is pulled and poked by some spanner w####r who is secretly totting up the bill in his head, especially with a supercar!
Last year they phoned me to say it failed the emissions, however a high speed run down the local by-pass cured it, luckily the manager is an old mate, known him for years and sure he was just pulling my leg. He loves having a Maserati on his forecourt, does the street cred a world of good.
That'll be a free MoT then..................

I have not been using the car recently due to the poor weather its usually on trickle charge but was unplugged due to my dear wife adding more Christmas lights.
Tried to start it but battery was flat, now despite a full charge it spins over fine but just will not start the garage has been a bit damp but no other obvious reasons.
Over my three year ownership it always stared on the button without issue unfortunately being a 2000 car no OBD 2 connection. Any ideas on things to check first?

Does the immobiliser yellow 'Key' symbol on the dash go out when you attempt to start? If not, lock and unlock the car with the fob a few times to see if it resets. The 3200 really likes a tip top battery - as yours has been flattened it has inherently added wear and tear to the battery and made it less efficient - get the battery checked too. If battery is tested as OK, unplug the battery terminals for 10mins and then re-attach - sometimes a reset like this will do the trick.

Agree with RichTaps check immobiliser light goes out, and and if there is any doubt replace the battery. does it fire at all or just turn over completely dead? If its firing but failing to run that would suggest the immobiliser is not the problem (although there is a little padlock light that stays lit when this is not working). if its turning over slowly then that's never going to work the 3200 does not like to start unless the battery is tip top.

Also note it might just be in a bad mood, you disconnected the battery conditioner so clearly don't care enough about it anymore so its just reminding you who's boss, it's an Italian mistress!!! A new battery may appease the beast and restore the status quo :) Merry Christmas

Many thanks for your thoughts. The yellow light is going out on start, I actually never alarm it in the garage to save battery drain. It spins over exactly as it should but is completely dead.
I have ordered a new battery as I know just how temperamental 3200s are. Engine warning light is on but have had this previously if the battery has been allowed to discharge, it's always cleared after a short drive.
