OK I'll have to do a bit of research! ;)
Hit a small snag yesterday :(
In the thunder storm and flash flood that hit Essex on Sunday evening I got caught up in I ended up on a road that was flooded - had to drive through a mini lake! Since then the baffle on the exhaust has been stuck open :(
Any ideas?!

Welcome Nic....how deep was the water? - some may have run back into the rear muffler so with the resistance of the water sitting in there, that may be enough to stop the vacuum from pulling it closed.

I do wonder how durable these valves are. My car is in for a service and one of the backboxes is being replaced as the valve is completely seized. I don't know why they did not design the exhaust with an enclosed mechanism but have a removable panel for lubrication etc as once these cars get to 4200 type age you wonder if any of them will have correctly working exhausts.

Its just an incentive to fit an ASBO system in its place :D

Agreed, very poor. The rest of the box looks very well made and I have not heard of any rotting through but these valves are certainly beginning to show problems now

Things developed a bit further and the engine warning light came on yesterday so I got very worried and took it straight to the Maserati service centre. They've made a nice little video showing me what they found!

Guess the Italians don't experience deep flash flooding much!

Very interesting, thanks for sharing - good news that the valves was such a simple fix and who would have thought to look there for the problem? Hopefully your front air filter will dry out and you'll be back on the road soon.
Good luck

Yes I'm missing it already!
Odd place to put an air pump with a "water sensitive" filter though don't you think?!
I get the car back today (hopefully!)

I've looked up about H and X pipes! Interestingly looking at that video isn't the stock exhaust an "X-pipe" configuration?
I think I need to hear someone's with the different pipes - I'm intrigued!
:)

Amongst members on here, there are lots of different configurations from an X pipe, to an H pipe, sport rear boxes & sport cats and various combinations thereof, all giving different sounds and noise levels.

The best thing is to hear them in person, the videos don't do them justice so you will need to go along to a meet and have a listen up close & personal
