Hi All,
So very annoyingly having sorted a new alternator and aux belt with reasonable ease... no more than a few days have passed (and very few miles) before a series of belt related noises have started that seem to be AC related. It's coming and going a little at the moment but my initial instinct says it will get worse. Not sure what the gas level is like... I guess I can get that checked... but its a mechanical grumble and whine not a gassy noise. I guess that the new belt and tensioner would have put a lot more pressure on it... any thoughts on this or does it seem a likely and inevitable outcome?
From a quick read it sounds like a pain in the backside to swap the compressor so beyond a semi-competent but somewhat time poor DIY'er?
On another note... are there any 4200 owners in the Bristol / Bath area who would be game to meet up briefly? I'd be really keen to look and listen to a few other 4200's... just to get a better impression of what creaks and strains are normal service and thus to be better able to tell if anything is off. Nothing too specific yet... but the more I tinker the more I get paranoid so it would be cool to have a couple of cars side by side. Always nice to have a drive and chat as well!
Cheers,
Chris
