Anyone toyed with the idea of Push Start Button

I always found the start button on the MCV a little silly, given that you still needed to insert the key. Start buttons are only worthwhile when the key fob is automatically detected and no actual key is required. But if that could be arranged for my GC-MC for sensible money, count me in.

I know what you mean, there are kits that use RFID to enable a start button, but then you are into electrical steering locks (currently with the key) which are a whole new ball game. For me the only practical way of doing it would be to replace the final turn of the key with a button like the GS, but that would seem like a cludge to some.

There are keyless start kits on ebay, with elimination of the CODE chip. You could then break the steering lock.

This became less attractive.....

I am still not used to my GS having a start button.

I get in, turn the key and expect it to start, then press the start button for too short a period, so have to press it again and keep it pressed.

If a policeman was watching me start the car he would have doubts about whether I owned it!

Takes me back to leaving my GS at Mike Roberts to have the FD DBW installed. Came back a few hours later to find him in a sweat as the car wouldnt start and profusely turning the key but nothing....calmly lent in and pushed the start button and it fired up...I took the p!ss naturally after I got up off the floor from laughing :p

On my GC-MC, the most left hand button of the row of 6 buttons to the right of the steering wheel, is blank. That would be the ideal one for a start button, as it would leave all the others as standard.

Can you not set up some thing with Siri to start the car?

'Siri, start the car'

'...engaging launch mode.....'

I've thought about this a bunch too. wouldn't the obvious solution be to just leave the key in permanently (probably without most of the shell) and wire up a secondary switch and interrupt mechanism?

sure, you'd lose the steering wheel lock, but who cares? my corvette (with its in-pocket fob and push button start) doesn't even ha r a wheel lock... I've never missed it.

I also want BTLE locks...
