Arial in wind screen

Very quick answer needed , iam having a new windscreen fitted does any one know what the arial in the wind screen is

It's in the rear screen (>99% sure), assuming you have a 4200.

Yep 4200 2002 , there's a little arial wire coming from the bottom of the front windscreen but no where to plug it in to .

Could be for a GPS if you have that option.

Nope, GPS box is under the top dash vents .

Possible it's a screen from a diffferent / later vehicle? Do you have the auto dimming mirror, for example?

Urm no idea , I think it's for a later model iam sure i read some where that the car aerial was fitted in the screen on later models . Anyway screen is in now with the cable not connected .

Pretty sure it was always in the rear.
Looking at Eurospares, it could well be either the phone (microphone / antenna) or the electrochromic mirror.

I'm willing to bet you don't have the car kit?

Page 106 of my handbook confirms that the Coupe is fitted with front and rear aerials as part of a 'Diversity system' and I quote:

"It consists of two combined aerials that are activated alternatively, depending on the one that better receives the signal"

The grammar probably lost something in the original translation but I'm sure you get the gist.

Cheers guys for the info , as said already new screen in and cable not connected as we looked for ages trying to find the other end connector with no luck and the window guys where getting a little inpatient by than .
