My car is due it service soon and I was considering Autoshield in Manchester. Looking at google street view it just looks like a small shop with double yellow lines all around. Do they work on your car at another location? Any comments welcome!

Simon, yes they do. The workshop is up the back street across the road. It's not far at all. Let me know how you get on as I am thinking about getting mine serviced there as well. What service are you having done?

Hi Simon, have used Autoshield twice, Marios is a true Maseratisti....keenly priced too and very knowlegdable.

The shop/office is one side of the road, his workshop directly opposite down an entry way. I park around the back of the shop, usually spaces there until they take your car over.

Have visited Autoshield and met Marios and have to agree, a lot of knowledge and passion about Maserati...

I've used them twice so far, found them knowledgeable, straightforward and accomodating at fairly short notice. Marios spent loads of time with me test driving my car after i'd first bought it and immediately diagnosed my RCY light. Their attention to detail seems good too...

Chris, that sounds like a long drag down from Newcastle, are they that good?

Haha, couple of factors make them best for me aside from my good opinion of them - no one with an SD2/3 in Newcastle, my nearest dealers are Edinburgh and Leeds, although I suspect Autoshield is my nearest dedicated Indie. Also, my parents live just south of Manchester, so it makes sense for me to go and see them, drop the car off, steal my Mum's car for a few days and then return it when I pick the Maser up...

Marios has people travel from London, Scotland etc. He is one of only two indies who are supplied parts at discount by Maserati. Best possible place IMO in the country including main dealers. I've used them for 5 years and found them to be superb.

Agree........so very steeped in all things Maserati for several decades now......very amiable, always helpful......and good prices to boot.

Over the last few days I've had an intermittent CEL and I took it across to Autoshield. They looked at it straight away and with the code reader diagnosed a left bank vario actuator failure. They cleared the fault and reset the clutch parameters but the fault came back as I was leaving. They cleared the fault and then took the black cover off the left cylinder head cover and found the electrical connector had come apart. They reconnected it and ....fixed. Result! The connection, apparently, has a habit of coming apart as oil comes up the lead and into the connector, a fact confirmed by Miles at Emblem (thanks guys). Something to be aware of if you are changing the spark plugs for Iridiums. Also, Marios and his mechanics are not impressed by the change to Iridiums and have had cars with misfires coming in as a result of their fitment. So, if you have a CEL, or misfire, after changing your plugs, bear this in mind. Also, the clutch now feels like a new one and the whole driving experience is much improved. Top guys. Thanks.

I can't recommend these guys enough for anyone who needs a specialist and it's always a pleasure to take my car in to them.

They say they are causing misfires. Indeed there was an 06 GS with Iridiums in the workshop that had that complaint and Marios said the original NGKs were going back in and the Iridiums were going into a plastic bag. They deal with these cars every day so I think their views should be treated with all due respect. However, I will be leaving mine in until I get a misfire or they wear out as, so far, the engine is running like a Swiss watch.
