Back on the road after 5 years!

Finally managed to get my 3200 back on the road after a long hibernation period due to buying and renovating a house and not having time and money for the car.
MOT yesterday and passed without issues.

However it’s been a long time since I have driven it so there are a few things that I don’t remember are normal or not.

Turbo boost noise: this is quite noticeable with the window down (not so much with the windows closed) when accelerating hard, I can hear the typical whistling of the turbo. Power is still awesome and it will spin on 2/3rd gear if I floor it. Is this noise normal or should I be looking for leaks or inspect the turbos?

The annoying oil level warning. I had this come yesterday after fueling but I could not get it to go away. Opened the hood to check the level, was good but I still put half a liter in, closed the hood and opened a few times but the bloody light would not go out.
Today I took it for a drive and it was gone. Is there a procedure to force a check and clear the light?

Hard starting when hot, this I remember was already a problem when I last drove it and is a common issue with 3200. Anyone came up with a possible cause other than the crank sensor which I already replaced? Mine will not start after stalling are shutting the engine off when hot and needs 1 or 2 minutes until it starts again. Made for an awkward MOT check …

Great work. Have you changed the carbon canister after the 5 Yr slumber?

No, you think that could be the cause for the hard start?
I did replace the canister control valve that was leaking and caused the engine to run rough when starting and even stalling. But the hot start problem was not solved.

What about the turbo whistle, is yours also noticeable?

I know for hot start issues it is one of the first questions asked. Not sure on the 3200 though. If it is a potential issue for the others then I imagine it is the same for 32 also.

Congratulations on putting the effort in to get you car back on the road after such a long time.
I hope the withdrawal symptoms ( like a whistling in the ears) soon subside with use of he car.
Welcome back !
Have a wonderful summer.

I don’t remember there being noticeable turbo whistle on mine. Is yours obd2? If it is you can easily check temp sEnsor readings etc that may cause starting issues.

It’s obd2 but there are no codes. I’m wondering if the hot start issue and the noise in hearing are connected. Hot start issues can be caused by leaks in the intake. I already fixed one but there might be others and the whistle I hear is the air escaping from that leak when the intake is under boost.

Took it this morning for another blast and there’s no lack of power at all. In fact, it’s difficult to drive it slowly as it just wants to eat road!

Wasn’t looking for codes themselves. Look at the live data and check that the air temp and coolant temp that the ecu gets are what you’d expect.

Like you said vac leaks cause all manor of issues
