Hi

Anyone have the diagram for the battery isolator knob in the boot of a 4200 please? I'm wanting to move to under the dash

That would be complex at best. It breaks the ground connection in the very short run from the battery to the main ground. You'd have to run the negative cable all the way to the front and then either run it back again, or ground it at the front.

Question: Why?

Alternator still draining battery. Struggling for a replacement and switching off at the switch saves the battery draining

Well your alternator can't be draining the battery! (pretty sure)

Start pulling fuses to see where the drain is, or get a decent auto electrician in. Moving the isolator will be a royal PITA. As will isolating your car every time you use it.

I assume you've checked it's charging properly?

I'll bet it's an old tracker of some description, you need to find it and tear it out, if the installation is anything like the one I removed your car will be 500% safer from the effects of an electrical fire, the tracker on mine was fitted by an orangutang!
But a qualified one I'll bet!

I was going to suggest the same. The original battery in your tracker may have packed up and it's now taking it's power from the main battery. A common issue and well worth checking out

Yep, tracker. Try looking under the rear parcel shelf, need to pull out the back seats.

Battery drain will be the old tech redundant tracker for sure.
This was mine, now replaced by....well that's a secret of course!
Moving the battery isolator is a no-no.
Even if you did, you have the problem opening and closing the door without the door glass dropping.

Thanks all.

Two trackers removed. Had the car checked and they believed there was a diode on the alternator gone so it permanently pulls a drain

Ahh. Rectifier fault. Get it fixed. Won't be doing your electrics any good at all
