Thanks for that, a very enjoyable and informative article.

I did not know that Ferrari bought a 50% stake then a 100% stake in Maserati.

Who ownes it now?

Aint it all FIAT owned.

Also only for Citroen, again who else would have bought them.........Maserati had been a poorly run company for many decades.....God bless the French I say!

Citroen - brilliant off the wall designs, dreadful at accounting, poor financial decisions.
Peugeot - dull designs, very steady financial department...

Until the last few years! Completely agree about Citroen - just look at the design of their cars today compared to the Pug's. Chalk & cheese. And an English lady at the helm of the nice part...!

Until the last few years indeed! :D

Peugeot were a client of mine about 5 or 6 years ago - we did the consultancy on the metrology for the current small-car gearbox used in umpteen models in the group. Nice people to work with...

The SM only the French and Italians could have come together to make that - stunning in nearly as many ways as it was flawed but still would make it into my dream garage.

We had a DS4 as a hire car back from Le Mans, an interesting place to be and it drove really nicely

In the 50's at the design stage of citroen they were wholely owned by Michelin, the innovation in the Ds was so expensive that it sent Andre Citroen bankrupt! The Ds was then designed around the merits of Michelin's XS tyre (asymmetrical), which is why they drive like a bag of s*** when shod with any other tyre! I've owned 2 ds's in the past & do miss the totally smooth constantly level ride! Anyway I now have to put up with my newly acquired '56 Quattroporte! He he image.jpgimage.jpg

I think the old DS is one of the most charming Gallic cars ever. I would love to add a 50's model to the stable, but the boss says I need to reduce, not increase the size of the fleet.... Oh well.

The DS just hasn't aged, from a distance it is very difficult to put a time stamp on. The SM is a DS in a smart frock with and Italian heart

I love Citroen. Cool, charming, different. Shame they have a grotty reputation of late. The DS is an epic piece of design, truly among the best of all time. Trouble is that i'm not sure that i'd spend my own money on one of their cars and that says it all. Especially when I'm happy to buy anything from Italy and convince myself that it's well made. I guess they need to appoint a new marketing firm!
