Becker Sat Nav - 3200GT

In my 3200GT I have a Becker Traffic Pro High Speed head unit and CD multi changer fitted. It also has the auditorium 200 equipment fitted so the sound quality is quite good. At some point before I bought the car the sat nav CD has gone missing. Does anyone know if it is possible to copy this type of CD and if so would anyone be willing to send me a copy?

Now I know that the Becker sat nav is basic to say the least and is vastly out of date compared to modern Tom-Tom systems etc. This is why I'm not keen on parting with a lot of money to Navteq to get a new disc. I have a Tom-Tom which I use all the time but I like to keep my car as complete and original as possible so it would be nice to get the sat nav up and running.

Thanks for your help,
Steve

Old thread up again! even if old Becker sat nav unit is quite rubbish today i would still like to make it work and i need to find a map CD for that.

Anyone has a copy of Northern european maps or a clue where to find one? I need maps of Finland.

I think the 3200 only had Becker cassette and CD radios.
The optional Nav System was the Bosch / Blaupunkt RNS 3.

As I know the Gransport did have a Becker Traffic Pro 7801 (exclusive Maserati version).

Ok, so this cd-player might not be original? I have becker traffic pro with 6cd changer on mine, everything seems original IMO

There's a chap on eBay and , I think, on the alpina register by the name of Rob Marrs. He seems to be able to produce up to date copy discs for Beckers, that work. I had one for one of mine. Otherwise eBay.de throws some up but they often don't take PayPal which makes it a but more tricky.

Can you navigate and Reach a destination with a sat nav like that? Seems difficult to me, when being used to iphone navigation... :)

You can and I find it works acceptably well within the limitations of a single din space. You get voice commands, a basic diagram of where to go at a roundabout and a distance bar which changes as you approach the next turn etc. Looks like this
http://www.radio-express-service.de/becker/becker-traffic-pro-highspeed.shtml
that bar is nearly full so the R turn is very close.
I do miss having an on screen map but if you only have space for a single din then that's all you get.
Maps, even the newest, can be a little dated so worth checking dates etc. Having said that I've trusted them for a few years and have yet to be badly lost. I've got 2 in cars and another waiting for the next one.
They come up on ebay for well under £100 as well as the chancers asking £300!
If you have an older car (944/993 range rover/ 3200/4200 or a 456 etc) of the age before screens then they look the part, sound quality is very good and the sat nav is a nice toy if your phone is flat!

Course you can they work fine, old school, you just need good eyesight, lots better than reading a map!

Love the juxtaposition of the new and old there :D

Yeah it fits in pretty well with the chrome knobs and all the other 70's knobs!!
I have a big amp hidden under the passenger seat too and a nice set of discreet component speakers.

Me and my partner like to use maps and plan our route.
I found NZ's most dangerous road and in the top 10 of the world the other day.
On the map it said no hire cars so I said to her I own mine let's take a look.

I looks good!

They are all standard DIN units, so should do, maybe a standard loom adaptor might be required that any electrical auto shop should be able to sort.

I agree 100%. The strange thing is you cant buy a car with better V8 engine sound regardless of money spent.

Yep, enjoyed it for over 31 years.
A couple of years ago coming home cruising through the village on a lovely barmy summers evening a guy behind followed me onto my drive at home.
I got out and the guy behind apologised, his excuse was that he couldn't get enough of the distinct Stag Triumph V8 burble!
