Diesel smiesel. Petrol rocks.
I would generally agree with this statement. However, I had a Ghibli S for a week and couldn't wait to get back in my diseasel. The petrol car is very laggy and needs loads of revs to really get moving; mine takes off like a scalded cat and keeps going due to the lower end torque. For an every day car that warrants occasional spirited driving the diesel wins hands down for my preference.
Spec is everything on a Ghibli. Mine has around £16k of options that were a deal-breaker for me, but I didn't want to pay for. I negotiated a price for my 6 month old demonstrator with 4K miles that was £22k less than list.
