Have just returned from seeing the Gransport. I would say the car is tired and certainly needs some love. Paintwork a little bit scruffy beyond the obvious side skirts. Didn't notice any colour mismatch re the bumpers and no corrosion around the rear lights.
Interior had the usual wealth of sticky buttons and vents together with steering column casing. New head unit currently fitted but original still available. Torn door card pretty unattractive but could all be brought back. Felt under passenger footwell carpet and was slightly damp?
Owner offered a test drive which I duly did and I must admit ...really bloody enjoyed it! Bearing in mind the awful local road surfaces, it drove very nicely and I felt confident quite quickly. No vibration through steering wheel, pulled well and rode well. (On Michelin Pilot Sport 4's)
I feel it might be the sort of project I would like to get involved with and return the car to the best original state it could be. This would be over a couple of years as a proposed timeline.
What I don't know is the real state of the important oily and electrical bits but could be worth an inspection. My immediate concerns are clutch wear, paintwork correction (to say the least) and I'm a longer list will ensue.
The question is; if you could buy this for sub £15k and take your time bringing her back to her former glory, despite the patchy history, would it be worth it?
