Hi guys,

Thinking of buying one for my Stradale, but are they bad for the engine? When I say bad, I mean do they let more particles through into the engine than the standard OEM air filter?

Thanks Tom

Hi Tom
No they are fine for the engine.
Keep them oiled up and you'll have no problems

Athol (He's such an....) runs one and he swear by it. Amazing what snake oil can do :D

Might make one more pop and bang but then again so would cutting a hole in the airbox too.

I have one too but I had it fitted before I collected the car so do not have a comparison before/after to make. If looked after, they are life long filters though so they make economic & environmental sense

Great! I've ordered one!
Car is going in for the 2 year service on Monday so will get the garage to fit this one instead of a new standard one.
How often do they need to be cleaned and oiled? Every 2 years or 12k miles?

Thanks tom.

I have bought my two teenage kids two identical Fiat Punto 16v Turbos-(great little cars incidentally) One has a BMC air filter, one has an OEM Fiat one. Both are equally quick and return identical fuel consumption. The standard paper one is less hassle to be honest........PICT0730.jpg

OI! Ginger c%%t.

I use one because the paper filters are cheap and nasty. I'd rather an oiled filter to grab more of the dust and dirt before it enters the depth of the engine. It's nothing to do with performance and everything to do with looking after my car.

Just be careful when applying the oil - too much and it'll contaminate your MAF.

On fleabay a OEM paper one is €76 and the BMC €72, sofar for the price argument. The MAF sensor is a different issue, although BMC (and K&N) claim that if oiled correctly it is not an issue.
