It was Dem, the sound was like nothing else on the road......didn't sound like a standard M3 either...

Plenty on you tube.....It sort of sound like an M3 when driving normaly and then once the you give it some it changed completely.

You can fairly easily make any 3.2 s54 engined M car sound like a CSL with a GuppeM carbon air filter box.

And M4, honestly, the person responsible for this name wants hanging. Give me a C63 the Performance pack, LSD and Akropovic exhaust, proper naughty car.

CSL's can be broken for circa 17k in parts alone, the airbox is around 3K and wheels are quite expensive because they are lighter wher as the CS wheels are a replica version. Evolve will create a CSL Style air box for around £1000.

Love a CSL, the last BMW from their glory days.

Why would they bench a "brand" name like M3. You say M3 and almost everyone, whether they like cars or not, knows that "M3" means nice fast car.

all boring cars to look at, that was most of the point of them. I started to dislike BMW when they started pointless design over function.

I don't think they were boring to look at, the problem with BMW is they moved on from the "wedge/sqaure" look like the E30, 36 and 46 had. The E90 isn't bad and i have grown to like it but i don't love it. Personally the new car should be a 4.0 Straight 6 Naturally Aspirated with around 430 bhp.

M3 is not dead....The M3 name will be used on the 4 door....M4 is for the 2 door as the new Coupe is called the 4 series......Its bloody stunning as far as I'm concerned and until I saw it I would have been tempted with a C63 but it looks boring compared to the M4.....The C63 is a brillinat car bit the M4 will be a better drivers car...as per every M3......

We'll have to differ on that, boring boxy shapes do nothing for me. They are however some of the best designed car shells out there, they spent all the design budget on making them function rather than on the "look"; which is why I love them so much.

That shows how much interest i take when it comes to new Beemers. M3 4-door surprises me as the E90 version wasn't a great seller. The only 4 Door M3 IMO is the E36..... the original sleeper saloon.

Another thing i dont like about new BMW's, 328, a 2.0 petrol... eh ???? i thought 328 was 2.8 3 series ??? load of marketing shi......

Adam, a very much unloved M3.....Was never a great car when it came out as it was in the shadow of the E30.....BMW realised this whihc is wht the E46 put the balance right and added the best from both E36 and E30 .......... Nothing wrong with an E36...Just not great...

I have been in a couple of examples (coupe's) and they do feel a little softer than a 46, but i would still have a mint E36 for 7k as apposed to a scruffy 46.

They did blow me away back in the day..but they do look a bit old now....The E46 moved the game on Adam.....Best way to enjoy an E36 is the way Phil does in his...Strip it out and track it to an inch of its life.....
