Body Detailing In Peterborough

Afternoon all, shocking weather over here in the Fenlands today but I understand that the heatwave will be back tomorrow so good news! I inadvertently took Nero out in the rain today as it was fine when I left but it didn't last. But at least I can now confirm that I don't have any leaks around the doors or the boot so good news there.

I visited Peterborough Trim Repairs and have booked 'Nero' in for a machine polish, a few paintless dent removals and the mirror body to be repainted. Any of you who saw the car at David Askew's before I bought it will know that the bodywork and paint does let it down somewhat so hopefully after next week, it will look like a different car - well, a big improvement anyway. I was impressed with their work and one of their Ferrari owning clients was there at the time with their 550 and he had good words to say about them. The owner, Chris used to paint BRM's formula one cars back in the early 70s and has seen just about every type of body repair and paint job in his time so hopefully he will work wonders. I'll keep you posted.

Would be great to have some before an after pictures....purely because I'm sure the after pictures will be amazing!

It will be interesting to see how well the machine polish removes all the scratches and swirls that black cars suffer from. I have tried several polishes but to no avail

yeah black is a pain, I buffed the front as part of the OCD grill restro and it looked beautiful but no matter how careful I was on washing I've got a couple of hairline scratches back.... You just got to get the buffer out again and touch it in, doesn't take long, well if you can be bothered.... time blah blah....

I'm just back from collecting the car and I have to say that they've done an excellent job. After all, (most!) of the paint is 12 years old now so to achieve the finish they have, I think is remarkable and testament to the paint applied in the first place at the factory.
The swirl marks have gone and the only imperfections that remain are the scratches that are deep enough to feel with your nail so they have been touched in, just so that the white undercoat no longer shows through. I wanted the car to be tidied up, not to enter into concours so mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned. They also removed a number of shopping trolley dents and repainted the mirror which had suffered from the lacquer failing and the paint flaking off.
These aren't the best pictures but I think you can see the depth of shine which was not there before, particularly at the back of the car where it had been repainted in places and not polished properly once the paint had hardened.
I would certainly recommend them if you are in this area
