All, more info and web site coming through for Brunty...John phoned me in the week and all is underway. Unfortunately I am now at a wedding in Spain when Brunty is on so will not be able to make it....So I am looking for someone to take over the mantle to organise Sportsmaserata at this event .... that's if the forum still wants to take part. It will be very different this year but still a load of fun for anyone who takes part or just goes along......

So this is the tx I have had off John.....

JCB are attending...
Mercedes AMG are going to build a complete car show room in the last two gates
kawasaki is in talks to come along
Ford on board
Camping and caravaning available as it's over two days this year
Evening entertainment in hanger 42 are two tribute bands...Bon Joni and Queen.
Free to all car clubs.

Web site

So just need someone to take over from me this year. Drop me a pm and I will give you Johns number....I will help if needed on the run up but not being there it needs someone else on board.

Regards, Andy.

Hi Andy. I can help organise, but probably won't be able to do it alone.

Do we have a clear idea what the expectation is of the clubs? If it's two days hooning in the same way we have done previously, I must confess an element of concern for the car as well as my pocket ;)

Speaking to John you are not expected to do the two...up to every individual....either day or both. C thanks for the offer to organise...really appreciate it but as you say it's needs a few to make it work.....Any other takers ?

It will be the same as other years but expect more rules and regulations as its not an Asda invitation only thing.

All, C has offered to take over organising....do we have any takers to help. If we don't get anyone then we will not be attending Brinty this year.

C I have sent you Brunty Johns number. Would be worth giving him a call to understand what's going on and if we think it's worth pushing this year. If not then we will have to just tell John we will not be attending. Thanks...

Happy to give him a bell, but no idea how you sent the number? It does not appear to have arrived....

A thought occurs:

I'm going to try and call Jon later this week.
Ive got some questions that I've come up with but what does everyone else want to know?
Let me have your questions, please :)

I think fewer cars and more time between releasing cars ,may be to the first corner, or group cars with similar performance . Oh and make the GTR drivers apologise to every one else about there poor track etiquette before going on .

Also maybe run a first come first served gate to avoid the mess of last year , well not a mess but you know what I mean , people missing there slot and when thay shut the course down for lunch etc . Any way just a couple of ideas plus happy to help on the day if invited .

Ok ask the organiser the above questions or recommendations which ever way you would like to put it or basically is it going to be run the same as last year,? If that makes it less complicated :jptongue:

C, just a few thoughts:

Will Brunty supply the crash helmets for the punters?
Will they stop running lorries next to a race track? If not, will they erect adequate barriers?
Other than adding an extra day, how exactly is the format of the event being changed?
What charities will receive the takings? Can we choose?
Will they change the system of gates and organised chaos that was supposed to be the paddock area?
As Mav mentioned, will they look to group cars by performance?
Will the price per ride be governed by us or the larger organisation?
Any details on their public liability insurance etc... Different from prior years?

Good luck on Friday.

Sure C will get answers when he calls John.....This year is a very different event and for the forum it will be about if we get enough cars for the two days.....Lets see what John has for us and then the forum can decide which way to go.

OK, just got off the phone from John. As Andy says, it's a very different show. Asda pretty much a pig's ear of it, but John and Chris are pitching it as 'back to the good old days only much better'

It is two days: Saturday and Sunday.
The track will be open from 0900-1230 and 1400-1700
No one needs to do both days (but we will need enough cars, obviously)
Everyone gets free admission on for the Saturday night entertainment (even if you only take part on the Sunday)
Saturday night will be a concert with Queen Tribute Flash and a Rod Stewart 'tribute'.....
There will be bars food and some of the fair staying open.
During the day it will have much the same format with the arena, 4x4s bikes and so on.
Some manufacturers have asked to be involved:
Mercedes / AMG are taking the last two gates
Noble are also coming
Ford are running the 4x4 part and have asked for exclusivity on everything else.
No airshow (for reasons which are amusing, but you'll have to get me ******)
Passengers won't need helmets
Insurance is the same as the year before last

Camping / caravaning / motorhomes will be available for the Saturday night. With showers as well as 'proper' loos
Petrol will be on sale (but probably not at the bar)
There will be a sweeper on site.
Not substantive change to the gate system. Planning on running 12 plus gates.
No plans to group by performance (although not sure how this would be expected to work in any event)
No substantive change to the lorries or their track, or their barriers

What we charge is up to us: Likely that Noble, GTR and AMG will be charging a tenner, but totally our call.
Charities are Cancer Research, Wishes for Kids and Help for Heroes (check the OYM website for confirmed details) (http://www.on-your-marks.info/)

The Hinckley Island is fully booked all nights for some conference. John is trying to get a discount at the Leicester Marriott and the Leicester Hilton.

I think that about covers it. Changes to the running, as it were, we might be able to suggest if we're involved.

Just to remind everyone it's the 16/17 September (Not even sure I'm going to be in the country at this point) Happy to keep running with it for now though.

Questions I field to John, or he's more than happy to talk to anyone direct.

Let the discussions commence

I'm not around this year which although a shame is probably best for my wallet! I'll be back next year!

Just my thoughts on price. I would stick to £5.....A tenner seems a bit much for punters pockets. Ok you will do more laps to get the money but you'll get more interest if priced well.
