Thank you, can you please tell me which brand is good? I have no clue and I will be driven from price, just something that is proven compatible / trustworthy.
Any brand should do with no need to spend any more than around 30 Euros. Put OBDII code reader into the likes of Amazon and check it has decent user feedback , then keep it in the armrest box!

Road assistance today again, I went to change my battery but unfortunately once I had the new one again the car wouldn't start.. (behaving like there is no voltage on the battery), I tried 4-5 times and then the engine was on. I switched it off and after 5-10 minutes I tried again but after 4-5 times that I was trying smoke came out of the hood, thank god there was not flame and I switched off the electricity and called the road assistance to take it to Maserati.

Later, I was observing the hood and I found out a cable was touching the engine and was melted (attached is the photo), can this cable be related with the starter motor or anything similar? Does anyone know what is this for?

I do not know what it is for, but I think you were unlucky that it was rubbing until it shorted. They should be tidier than that. Once I got the bearings of your photo, I took mine as an example. I hope it helps.

Keep with it. There’s just some fettling on anything that’s not been used for a while.

I was putting the race car on the trailer yesterday and the indicator just fell out, and it’s not even Italian!

Thank you both, Allan from what I can see they have definitely have it wrong, your cables are above the metallic pipe while mine are below, perhaps that is the reason for the cables touching the body of the engine.

Yes, it is a disappointment and they should have been tidier, one of the reasons that I go to the dealership is because I don't want to deal with amateur mistakes.

If anyone knows what exactly this cable does kindly let me know, I am just curious, I am having a look on the parts but still haven't find it. It seems that this cable ends up directly connected to the body of the engine.

Worthwhile seeing if you can do some of the work yourself….. otherwise you might be paying the dealer quite a lot of money. Certainly in the short term while you work the issues out.

I would have loved to do it, not only because of the money saving but also because I would have enjoyed it. However I don't have the expertise (especially on electric issues) and the chances are that I will cause more damage. I will get there but not now, I am still very cautious.

Thank you Davy, I checked the webpage and I will follow back on email directly. Thank you

Hello everyone,

So I want to offer you a small update. The car entered the dealership yesterday and their first assumption was that the issue was related to the starting motor but they only started working the car today. The took the manifold out to reach the ignition which once they took it out, it was obvious that it smelled burned and they sent it for repair. Regarding the temperature they are not very confident why this is happening (they don't want the car to reach temps greater than 90 degrees and they don't consider it acceptable). On the big service they changed the thermostat and the fans and everything was working normal.

Since they took the manifold out they reach some parts of the cooling system and they managed to clean the pipes which they had tons of sentiment. They don't think that the sentiment could have been the issue for the engine to overheat, however tomorrow when they will have the ignition repaired, they will connect everything and they will do some test to check again that everything works normal. If not, the next step will be to take out the radiator and check for blocks etc.

Attached some photos from today's work. The electricity system seems to work fine, no fuses were burned or anything like that.

Following up on this, today the ignition motor was installed and worked just fine. Apparently the overheating issue was something very simple. Some cables of the fan were not making contact correct. Some connectors have been replaced and they did let the engine on for 15-20 minutes and everything was fine (Never exceeded 90 degrees, usually 89-88 degrees with the sensor of the car's external air temperature indicating around 50 degrees, reading from the MASERATI OBD reader). Tomorrow I will pick her up again.

Side note, I was in contact with the Maserati Classiche in regards to the papers that I have the ability to source from the Historic Archive, the only available was the Certificate of Origin, the rest of the papers were not available as 3200gt is too young, so everything is in informatics.

Fabio Collina, the head of Maserati Archivo Storico is super friendly, professional, efficient and approachable, from my first email till the acceptance of the letter today, it was less than 7 days timetempImagerFoH1q.pngtempImage8YMBi8.pngtempImageQPIxYV.pngtempImageuUkldF.png.

Also the carbon brake ducts which are unique to the AC...?

We removed the brake ducts from my Assetto Corsa today to replace the flexible hoses that feed the air. I always thought that the carbon fibre story was nonsense (because I could see that mine were plain black). However, when I had them in my hand and wiped them clean, to my surprise the CF weave became visible :)

Hello everyone,

After enjoying a trouble free month with this beauty, we put it back in the garage in order to fix some secondary faults and replace some parts that were not available immediately from Maserati.

The "major" of these faults was the airbag fault light, which was related to the co-driver's seat belt. As I did mention back when I bough the car, there were signs of rats being on the car and we only now found the first proof of that. Some of the electric cables have been chewed and thus the airbag light was coming on. We had to strip the back of the car (which was good in order to do a deep clean on the seats) and everything was fixed.

The other problem had to do with the AC unit, I didn't have either fan speed or cool air. We started with the condenser, which, oh my god, I couldn't believe that looked so bad and needs replacement. Which apparently is not available through the factory or Eurospares or Scuderia parts. (Part number 385500220). Could anyone help me if there is anyone else that sells these things? Even if used? Mine is beyond repair...

Give Mike at the Maserati Shed a shout - he's producing batches of AC Condensers. I have one on mine and looks good quality.

Hello everyone,

It has been a long time since I last posted here and thought to update you with my car, as you may have noticed I still had problem with my AC condenser and the electric fan. Thankfully David Askew advised me to check the fan for blockages and below you will see what I have found, after I removed this towel, it works just fine, I still have problem sourcing a condenser but I believe I have found one now which will arrive later this month in Greece.

Then the next step was to send it to a professional to fix the interior of the car which is like new now, honestly I was amazed with the job that they did, overall the interior was very very good but they managed to fix the small scratches and the steering wheel perfectly.

Then I proceed at the dealership with changing some parts that were not initially necessary, like the brakes. Although there was more use to do on them, there was something wrong and the car was vibrating during braking, so we decided to proceed with replacement in order not to create greater problems on the suspension. Original Asseto Corsa pads were fitted which was very very expensive, almost 1k, comparing to the 250 Euro of the normal 3200gt ones. Of course I kept the old ones, because you never know when they will run out of these.
tempImageIdNOe2.pngtempImageGdZst6.png

I also did a small road trip and I clocked almost 1k kms on a weekend, which was trouble free with no surprises. Of course during that time I also became an expert on washing my car :) I tried different towels, wax etc. in order not scratch the paint etc. The car looks very nice now and I feel very happy, I have booked an appointment at Modena on November for the Classiche Certification and I will keep you posted.

I want at this point to thank you all, people who have actively helped me with my questions but also those who have contributed in the past, your passion was a driving power for me and helped see a bright light when the bills were just pilling up and I was unsure if the car will become what I have dreamed.
