Can you recommend a stainless exhaust for a Ghibli Biturbo GT?

Trying to find out what system would free up the glorious sound of the car (1996 Ghibli GT 2.8), semi-sport rather than stupidly loud - just fruity! Do Tubi still make systems for this model?

Who makes stainless exhausts (probably from the cat back) that are still available today? Thanks.

For reference, this Tubi system sounds flipping gorgeous!

Quicksilver made me one for my LHD Ghibli many years ago. There was a choice of volume - sport or super sport. It'd be worth giving them a call.

Thanks Ewan, just pinged them an email. How are things going with your Ghibli?

Thanks spacecadet, how does it sound and how much are the systems you linked to?

Collected the green goddess from Emblem earlier this evening, after three months. Lots of jobs done, so she's looking fantastic and a joy to drive. Tomorrow I take her back to her owner and collect my QP IV from him.

It's the second to last Ghibli GT sold in the UK and is the best I've seen in recent years in terms of condition. My friend bought it from Maranello as their ex-demo back in (from memory) 1998 and I doubt he'd ever part with it.

Hmm, not sure if I can describe properly. Definitely has some deep end in lower RPM, especially when in closed spaces, but not disturbingly loud. Sorry I don't know the price, but I remember trying to look it up when I got the car, it was probably in the 1-2k EUR range. You could ring them up, it's a smaller family owned business, I remember a post about them in the forum, but cannot find it.

I had Hayward and Scott make mine.

Cost about £700 - but that was a good few years ago now. They needed the car for a few days.

Ideally I would like straight through pipes to remove the cats - but never got round to it.

Mine had a Tubi on it too. I'd get one made locally if you can. Will be much more cost effective.

Hi Del, was this for a Ghibli II? How does your Hayward and Scott system sound? What's build quality like?

Just gave them a bell and they quoted about £900 to £1000 so a decent saving on going the Tubi route.

Hayward & Scott build quality is excellent. The sound can only be better than standard so I would say it's a real option.

The good thing about H&S is the fact that they can tailor the exhaust sound to whatever you want.

My parents live not too far from them so I'll happily drop the Ghibli off for you! :thumb1:

Thanks for the offer Mark! I asked the Ghibli but sadly she said 'no'. Will def look into H&S more though.

Yes it was for Ghibli II

Quality is very good - sound ? They cut open the original rusty back boxes and looked to copy the basic set up it makes a subtle burble at idle but does not roar at speed.

As Geoffcapes said they can tune the internals to suit.

I have used quicksilver, Larini and Charlie at Prospeed. I'd recommend the later out of all three. The ghibli is really not a loud car, the turbo's reduce the noise quite a lot, so you needn't worry too much about having too much noise.

Thanks chad, I spoke to Charlie and the price he quoted me with sport-cats is excellent. From looking on other forums and at customer reviews etc. it really does seem like his knowledge, ability, and service are first class.

Think I'll probably take this route. Tubi were top of my list but if Charlie can create the same sound also with sport-cats (an addition compared to Tubi) for approx £200 less than the Tubi system then this seems like the way forward.

No problem General!
I wish I'd gone with him first time, rather than waste time and money on the others.

I've used Hayward and Scott about 3 or 4 times, they always did a nice job.

Particularly on my ur quattro. They did an exhaust with slashed tips etc that looked just like the original, but was fully 3".

They are based in Bas Vegas aka Basildon :)

Technically, Bas Vegas is the Festival Leisure Park as opposed to the whole town.
