Fair play for having a go too but what scum! People who do this should have their hands cut off, there is no deterrent at all anymore.

How awful. Not sure how I'd react in that circumstance. I've been threatened with a gun and knives before (a very long time ago) whilst recovering a stolen car, but the worry these days is that if any of it is drug induced, you just don't know how they might react to any opposition. Very frightening indeed.

Just goes to show you have to be alert. I doubt that was an opportune moment, more likely a routine has been observed.. Cowards.

Speechless. If somebody wants something badly enough they'll find a way to take it. He's lucky they weren't carrying knives as they didn't look afraid to hurt anyone to get the car. Scumbag w@nkers!

Not much they could do about it as it all happened so fast and he was brave to have a go back, i think i would just hand over the keys in that situation. Must have been very frightening for the victims. Just goes to show that you never know who is watching you or what they may be planning.

Sad thing is there's plenty of dead have a go heroes , it's hard but the best thing to do is let them have it , a few years ago a guy was dropping somebody off at Liverpool airport, left the car running and somebody jumped in , he got in front of them and the ran him over killing him

there is no deterrent at all anymore.

You're not wrong there , on TV a week ago a guy sucker punched a regular at a pub knocking him out after the landlord asked him to leave, then his mate joined in , landlord hit him round the back of a head with a pool cue , police get called , guy says landlord started it assaulted him with the pool cue, CCTV said different

Scumbag Found guilty, suspended sentence, **** all then.

A similar thing happened to a guy I know. He just got into his brand new X5 and a bloke pulled him out and two others started hitting him with baseball bats screaming at him to hand over the keys.
What they obviously didn't know is that my mate ran the doors to all the local pubs and clubs, and inside the house were his brother and two colleagues.

The three car jackers, were soon, shall we say, rendered immobile, the plod were called and carted the three off to the nick.

However, the all got suspended sentences, and my mate and his pals were cautioned as the police said they used excessive force! Ffs!

Can't even protect your own property these days either!

See how fast you go to prison if you "do" the tax man

Any party that said they'd build more prisons and hand out proper sentences would get my vote

Shocking says a lot about the world we now live in but I wonder how the insurance company would view you handing over your keys under threat ?

Given the camera footage, I don't think a judge would look kindly on an insurance company worming out of that. It's not worth the energy and bad PR to them.

New Ferarri's and maserati's have trackers fitted as standard.
The clever bit, if I understand it correctly, once instructed to do so by the police, the tracker company can switch of the ignition by remote control.
If it works as described should make this form of theft pointless.
Also in terms of insurance, I have been told that if you are forced to surrender your car, it's considered theft. So at least the Audi owner should be covered.

Thay maybe the case but there a limited number of places to fit them and people work that out.

You wouldn't want to turn off the ignition as it's hurtling down a busy three lane motorway though.
