Hello all

I recently bought former PierreD's 3200gt. 152 000 km. Engine is 111 000 Km. Model 2001. Manual verde mistral.

I am so pleased with car , the style, the turbos....

I have done 1000 km with no issues near Xmas. Then after 35 days of immobilization, i couldn't start it.
Battery was flat. Started with a booster.
10 km after, CEL and Limp Mode.
Since then, I bought a ODB2 reader and I have P0226. CEL coming by intermittency . 90% of the time with LIMP mode but sometimes with no LIMP mode.
Battery has been changed. Pedal pot connection has been done following your recommendation . TB is upgraded version.

What can I do to get rid of that limp mode ?

Thank you for your assistance

226 is a DBW issue so either Pedal Pot or Throttle Body. Get them changed to fix all issues!

The thing is my TB is already one from Boomerang. The Pedal Pot wire has been upgraded. And all of this has arrived after a flat battery. Before that no issue at all.

Pedal pot is one of the few things that cause limp mode. Do the reset procedure - a search will find it, but basically it's leave ignition on and don't touch throttle for a minute or so, then turn on ignition and floor throttle, hold pedal for 10 secs I think.

Sorry to sound harsh but if by pedal pot wire upgrade you mean the mess some people make by cutting the wires and joining 2 circuits in 1, then you should replace the POT ASAP.
There is a contactless version also.

Nice choice of car BTW, I did consider buying his car last year when it was for sale on Autoscout.

I have done reset plenty times. It removes CEL but then back after few miles.
The main question for me is : why a flat battery has for consequences the CEL and limp mode ?
I will ask for the pedal pot but it has been ok before the flat battery. Strange coincidence no ?

If the pedal reset cures the CEL then it is more than likely that.

Get a DMM and put a wire on each pin until you measure the voltage at idle and then full throttle. At idle it should be between 300mv and 650mv. At WOT it should be over 3V.

What happens is the tracks wear at idle position as that is where it spends most of its life!

Davy83 on here sells a pedal sensor which replaces the Bosch part and transforms the pedal response.

Ok will have a look at it. Btw my idle has always ranged between 900 and 1000rpm.
Can cleaning the contact help ?

Hi OGAJOE

I am also suspicious that your battery caused this to happen? If the pedal sensor was on the way out it would have been happening before the battery issue.Having said that if recalibration clears the problem and then it comes back this does rather point at the pedal sensor. I also think that if some one wired the two outputs together this is a sign that there has been problems in the past, or this would not have been done. The bodge of wiring the two outputs together really just prolongs the life of a faulty pedal sensor and does not cure the problem which I think is wear around the idle position (which is where the pedal spend most of its time). doing the voltage output test is a good idea, as is pulling the pedal sensor connector out and yes some contact cleaner is worth a try, mate and un-mate a few times. you might be lucky! you might also try moving the pedal end stop bolt while measuring the pedal sensor voltage output and move it to a higher voltage and a different position see if this helps. Had not had much success with that one but it might be worth a try, but again would just give you a little longer probably not remove the issue. the Bosch part is a carbon track potentiometer, which means there is a mechanical arm rubbing on a carbon film and needless to say this wears out over the life of the car, so they don't last forever. As Contigo kindly mentioned i do make a contact less version which can remove this problem if you are interested PM me.
