Interesting...esp the part about a PDF of your V5. So if you buy one you give all your details to the French so they have an address for speeding fines too.... hmmm think I will steer clear of driving in thise cities.

Sounds like a cash generation exercise, if they want to know the emissions the registration plate tells them what the car is.

Or knowing the French it's so they can single you out and throw eggs at your car as you drive by

The French love a bit of bureaucracy - it keeps a lot of socialists in meaningless work. To be fair Paris smog can be terrible at times. Never really noticed it in Lyon - having three rivers probably keeps it nicely windswept. I expect a lot of other places will join in eventually. But as Dad said earlier they have a few sh*te holes you'd want a nice bit of smog to cover up.

Yes on certain days they would be banned. I'm also a member of a French car club, Vincenne en Ancienne, and it's a hot issue as you can imagine. Most of the club members intend to hold en masse demonstrations every week. They're an excitable bunch of chaps. :)

What happens if you have an old classic with a modern engine fitted then what..
I know it's not allowed in lots of European countries but it is over here!
