Not so. Most indies can improve on the conservative factory geometry settings. Dropping it so it can't clear a speed bump does seem a bit daft though!

agreed, can you put ,avoid speed bumps into a satnav

i was following a golf last week with those sticky out wheels , it was so low it took him about 15seconds to get over every bump , i'm surprised a car is road legal with the wheels like that

The Brera is on air which means it can be raised.

In my mind playing with suspension settings is best left to some one who knows what he's doing as there are so many unknowns. There is a guy near Leicester who has worked for many manufacturers over the years who will now do custom settings is very good but not cheap. I think Prodrive used him to improve the settings for the Brera S. When we get the Q4 up and running we will be using him or some one similar to get the settings right.

I bet they do, they want you to buy there springs Ride seems pretty firm to me, I can see no issues arising from using standard springs on a lower setting

It won't be any firmer as you haven't changed the springs or the weight of the car. As Dave says, the dampers now won't work as designed. Maserati switched to what FD call fixed perch shocks to prevent people doing this. If it's just for show down on the seafront on a Friday night, all good :)

Here's a piccie of a standard QPV spring uncompressed, fitted, with a FD spring just removed. Tells you quite a bit about professional lowering!IMG_4909.jpg

I'd buy some springs from FD, H&R or Eibach as the altered compression ratio will help the ride and handling. As with others, i'd have it set up by a specialist. I did this to my silver GS and after following Mav in his 4200 and watching it lightly touch the ground a couple of times when loaded with baguettes and wine, the spring rate it crucial for it to work well. Looks good though.

Just filled in insurance renewal ...questions..no modification to Exhaust , wheels, suspension ..it would suggest such mods would nullify Insurance.

Must be an age thing.

According to Admiral I have modified suspension because I have Skyhook. Any order form tick boxes count as a mod.

Makes no sense to me, either.

Anyway, beau, for true obnoxious I refer you to my hooligan friend Mr Contigo who can do you a horrible sounding and disappointingly quiet aaaaaaiiiitccchhh piiiiiiiipe. For about two hundred pounds.

I had exact same on my old E92 M3 as it had EDC, classed as a mod despite if being a factory fit and despite the fact that the edition cars were all listed seperate on the insurance database's they still took it as a mod

Do they load you for that? Personally as it came from the factory I think is standard.

C

No, but as it helps them calculate the valuation it's worth listing all the options. Hence Bose, the Alcantara headlining, piano-black trim, part Alcantara seats, X-piiiiiiiipe etc etc are all listed. Doesn't half make renewal time dull!
