After completing a few little jobs in the engine bay, today was the time to put the nicely cleaned and polished engine cover back on. But I couldn't bring myself to do it. There were grimy things under there. So I cleaned them. For the slightly grimy parts it was a damp rag, carefully avoiding the electrical bits, and for the king and queen of grime, the tops of the suspension points, a toothbrush and an aerosol can of water soluble degreasant followed by lots of disposable kitchen roll and degreasant, carefully avoiding any disturbance of the all important skyhook wire.
Before: Grimy
After: Clean ( though not really gleamy)
After some more: No one knows, because the cover is back on.
No one, that is, but me. I know. And it feels good. Gleamy.
