When I ran alt.autos.alfa-romeo we had a similar 'problem'

At the end of the day, IME, people who want to post will, people who don't, won't. Some may drop in and say a quick 'hello' in response to a 'Please post' post, but it's just the way it is.

Well noticed this thread so thought I'd say hi and pass on a lurkers story.

Joined up a month or so ago. I currently own a BMW E92 M3. Owned from new for 3.5 years. It's a great car and I've owned 4 BMW's in a row, 2 of them concurrently at present (E92 320d) work mule. The M3 is really a great car and as I don't drive her 24/7 but still cover 10K miles a year in her my time with her isn't done yet

Also I have a 10 month old and hope to have another next year and the M3 despite being a coupe can still be loaded up with baby seats easily and the boot is big so right now it's the perfect car for me.

So why Maserati. Well I plan to keep the M3 till probably 5.5 years old then go for a change. It's the GranTurismo that is and has been pulling at my heart strings for a couple of years now. I love that car.

In true sad style I've been picking up nuggets of info from here and have even started writing down little things in my notes on my phone, so learning about the different boxes, who the extended warranty is through, the various options and service schedule.

So it's a long process for me for the reasons stated above. But if nothing else changes then the GT will be my next car as I can get it out of my head

So that's a lurkers perspective lol. But this is a great forum for the likes of me and I hope one day to be posting from as an owner.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. This whole GranTurismo thing I can't get out of my head. I love my M3's but its true to say the GT is pulling at my heart strings such a beautiful thing.

As it happens there's a 355 sat in my garage right now. That's not intended as a willy waving post lol, she's not mine but a good friend has leant me her for 9 days. There's a small group of us just fortunate enough to have our toys and we love them. We going touring in the Scottish highlands every year.

Some pics from the weekend just gone

It's from my friends Ferrari experience that I have a good appreciation of what these type is cars can entail. So that's a good heads up on things.

But ill say it again the GT has engrained itself into my head!

Thanks Andy / Phil,

I know it's the latests 'trend' but the white and black wheel combo does look striking on some cars and I'd like to stick with it if possible for the GT

The 355 is a great car I've covered 400 miles in her since Friday including a cracking drive out over the North York Moors on Saturday, she's never skipped a beat.

Will be touring the Scottish highlands again in a few weeks, 4th year in a row. It's a great weekend

I haven't had silver years on a car for many, many years...have a thing for dark/black wheels......White and black wheels on a GT looks stunning especially if you find one with the black window surround, exhaust, etc....

I've been lucky on my second great Ferrari but will always love my Maserati as she is for me a perfect GT also lucky to have a old E36 3.0 M3 to play with which is a very good play thing.

Well be complete coincidence since posting on here today I had my first ever sit in a GT. Was working in Shipley near Leeds the last 2 days, on the way there Monday I spotted one sat on forecourt of a little independent Porsche garage.

Went back today for a nosey. It's the first time I've ever got up close and personal to one and what a beautiful machine. She was the 4.2 version. 2008 model. It's just fixed for me that this has to be my next car. Boot wasnt quite as big as I thought. But isofix for the kids is great. And for the 4.2 what a great noise. Can't think why I thought it wouldn't be, being the smaller lump, it's still a 4.2! Sounded beautiful.

Not sure I could contain myself if I got into a 4.7S, specially white and black combo think I'd have a moment lol

You can change the rear boxes for a grand and get near the same noise as the 4.7S I suspect Ryan!
