Coolant smell

I am getting a smell in the cabin once the car warms up.
I'm aware of the dreaded heater matrix problem consequently i have a replacement available for when it needed.
I'm not getting any of the windscreen fog so yesterday i went to the trouble of pulling out the radio to have a look and feel around the area to see if their was any coolant .
No evidence of coolant and it totally dry.
Any suggestion?

It could be a coolant hose clip not secure enough.
Get your cooling system pressure tested and see if the pressure drops.

The air inlet to the heater isn't completely sealed from the engine bay so it may be coming from there. Have you checked the coolant level?

Yes. Coolant level is good. There doesn't seem to be any drop off of coolant level.

Still pressure test the system then you will know the answer.

Will do.. That's probably a very good starting point before i start removing carpet etc..
