Cooling fan resistor

I replaced my cooling fan resistor tonight. This fails and the fans will default to full speed. It’s found at the bottom of the radiator facing the engine. It’s not easily seen without using a camera phone. I disconnected the battery, jacked up the front end and placed jack stands under the vehicle and chocked the rear wheels. Then once I could feel the 2 screws I removed the old one , took off the connectors and replaced with the new part, off an Alfa Romeo on EBay. Not a hard job, I’ll let you know how it went tomorrow!IMG_6102.jpeg

Well done, there was some debate about variations with the Alfa 156 part but I never had any problems on the old 4200. They are a pretty crummy design.

None here either. Swapped my 4200 for an Alfa GT part

Do you know anything about the use of chaos theory in the prediction of weather cycles ? Would you like a crumpet ?
I know everything there is to know about chaos theory and predicting weather cycles
I'm a computer with an I.Q. of 12,000. You don't seem to understand; I know the meaning of the universe

No, I would not like a crumpet! Now ask me a sensible question, preferably one that isn't bread related

When the resistor goes, you loose the low speed fans. The high speed only comes in at high temps. My advice is to make a male-male jumper to bypass the resistor in an emergency. The fans will operate at high speed only, but come on at the lower temp.
